أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : بَلَغَنِي، أَنَّ عَطَاءَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ ، قَالَ، إِنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهًمَا يُخْبِرُ : أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَصَابَهُ جُرْحٌ فِي عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ أَصَابَهُ احْتِلَامٌ،" فَأُمِرَ بِالِاغْتِسَالِ "، فَمَاتَ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : " قَتَلُوهُ، قَتَلَهُمْ اللَّهُ، أَلَمْ يَكُنْ شِفَاءَ الْعِيِّ السُّؤَالُ؟ "، قَالَ عَطَاءٌ : بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ : " لَوْ غَسَلَ جَسَدَهُ، وَتَرَكَ رَأْسَهُ حَيْثُ أَصَابَهُ الْجُرْحُ "

Abu Al-Mughirah told us, Al-Awza’i told us, he said: I was informed that Ata’ bin Abi Rabah said that he heard Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with him. It is narrated that a man suffered an injury during the time of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and then he had a wet dream, so he was ordered to perform ablution, and he died. This reached the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and he said: “They killed him, God killed them. Wasn’t the question of curing the eye?” Ataa said: “I was informed that the Prophet prayed.” May God bless him and grant him peace. He was asked after that and he said: “If he had washed his body and left his head where the wound had been.”
