أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ أَبَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، قَالَ : لَقَدْ عَرَضْتُ الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا ثَلَاثَ عَرَضَاتٍ، أَقِفُ عِنْدَ كُلِّ آيَةٍ أَسْأَلُهُ فِيمَ أُنْزِلَتْ، وَفِيمَ كَانَتْ؟، فَقُلْتُ : يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، أَرَأَيْتَ قَوْلَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى : # فَإِذَا تَطَهَّرْنَ فَأْتُوهُنَّ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَكُمُ اللَّهُ سورة البقرة آية 222 #، قَالَ :" مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَكُمْ أَنْ تَعْتَزِلُوهُنَّ "

Al-Hakam bin Al-Mubarak told us, Muhammad bin Salama told us, on the authority of Muhammad bin Ishaq, on the authority of Aban bin Salih, on the authority of Mujahid, he said: I showed the Qur’an to Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them both, three times. I stopped at each verse and asked him: What was it revealed, and what was it about? So I said: O Ibn Abbas, have you seen the words of God Almighty: #Then when they have purified themselves, then bring them as God has commanded you, Surat Al-Baqarah, verse 222 #, He said: “As He has commanded you to “You should isolate them.”
