Abdullah bin Saeed narrated to us, Ismail bin Aliya narrated to us, Hatim bin Abi Saghira narrated to us, on the authority of Simak bin Harb, he said: I woke up on a day in which I had trouble in the month of Sha`ban or in the month of Ramadan, so I became fasting, so I went to Ikrimah, and lo and behold, he was eating. Bread and beans, and he said: Come to lunch.
So I said: I am fasting.
He said: I swear to God that you will break your fast.
When I saw that he had sworn and would not make an exception, I went forward and excused myself. I had only taken a break before that, then I said: Bring now what you have.
He said: Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them, narrated to us. He said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Fast when you see it and break your fast when you see it. If a cloud comes between you and it, complete the number of thirty, and do not face the month completely.”
