حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَلِي : أَنَّهُ أُتِيَ فِي ابْنَيْ عَمٍّ أَحَدُهُمَا أَخٌ لِأُمٍّ، فَقِيلَ لِعَلِيٍّ : إِنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ كَانَ يُعْطِيهِ الْمَالَ كُلَّهُ، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : إِنْ كَانَ لَفَقِيهًا، وَلَوْ كُنْتُ أَنَا" أَعْطَيْتُهُ السُّدُسَ، وَمَا بَقِيَ كَانَ بَيْنَهُمْ "

Muhammad ibn Yusuf narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, on the authority of Abu Ishaq, on the authority of Al-Harith, on the authority of Ali: It was mentioned regarding two cousins, one of whom was a maternal brother. It was said to Ali: Ibn Masoud used to give him all the money, so Ali, may God be pleased with him, said: If he were a jurist, and if I were, I would have given him a sixth, and what He remained among them.”
