حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ مُصْعَبُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ الْأَشْعَثِ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ : فِي رَجُلٍ هَلَكَ وَتَرَكَ ابْنَيْنِ، وَتَرَكَ أَلْفَيْ دِرْهَمٍ، فَاقْتَسَمَا الْأَلْفَيْ دِرْهَمٍ، وَغَابَ أَحَدُ الِابْنَيْنِ، فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ، فَاسْتَحَقَّ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ أَلْفَ دِرْهَمٍ، قَالَ :" يَأْخُذُ جَمِيعَ مَا فِي يَدِ هَذَا الشَّاهِدِ، وَيُقَالُ لَهُ : اتَّبِعْ أَخَاكَ الْغَائِبَ، وَخُذْ نِصْفَ مَا فِي يَدِهِ "

Abu Khaythamah Mus’ab bin Saeed Al-Harrani told us, Muhammad bin Abdullah told us, on the authority of Al-Ash’ath, on the authority of Al-Hasan: Concerning a man who perished and was abandoned. Two sons, and he left behind two thousand dirhams, so they divided the two thousand dirhams, and one of the two sons was absent, so a man came and claimed a thousand dirhams from the dead person, and he said: He takes everything that is in the hand of this witness, and it is said to him: Follow your absent brother, and take half of what is in his hand.”
