Al-Hajjaj bin Minhal told us, Shu’bah told us, Alqamah bin Marthad told me, he said: I heard Saad bin Ubaidah, on the authority of Abu Abd Al-Rahman Al-Sulami, on the authority of Uthman, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Indeed, the best of you is he who teaches the Qur’an, or learns it.”
He said: Abu Abd al-Rahman read about the rule of Uthman until al-Hajjaj was there. He said: That made me sit in my seat.
