أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ ، عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِابْنِهِ :" يَا بُنَيَّ، إِنَّ الْعِلْمَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ الْعَمَلِ "

Abdullah bin Yazid told us, Al-Masudi told us, on the authority of Awn bin Abdullah, on the authority of Mutarrif bin Abdullah bin Al-Shakhir, that He said to his son: “My son, knowledge is better than work.”
