أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : دَخَلَ رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْأَهْوَاءِ عَلَى ابْنِ سِيرِينَ، فَقَالَا : يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، نُحَدِّثُكَ بِحَدِيثٍ؟، قَالَ : لَا، قَالَا : فَنَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ آيَةً مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ؟، قَالَ : لَا، لِتَقُومَانِ عَنِّي أَوْ لَأَقُومَنَّ، قَالَ : فَخَرَجَا، فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ : يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ، وَمَا كَانَ عَلَيْكَ أَنْ يَقْرَآ عَلَيْكَ آيَةً مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ تعَالَى قَالَ :" إِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَقْرَآ عَلَيَّ آيَةً مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ فَيُحَرِّفَانِهَا، فَيَقِرُّ ذَلِكَ فِي قَلْبِي "

Saeed bin Amir told us, on the authority of Asma bin Ubaid, he said: Two men of whims and desires entered upon Ibn Sirin and said: O Abu Bakr. Shall we narrate to you a hadith? He said: No. They said: Shall we recite to you a verse from the Book of God? He said: No. Will you stand up for me or I will stand up? So they left. Then some of the people said: O Abu Bakr, and it was not for you if he recited to you a verse from the Book of God Almighty. He said: “I feared that they would recite to me a verse from the Book of God Almighty.” The Book of God, then they distort it, and that confirms it in my heart.”
