أَخْبَرَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ :" كُنَّا نَكْرَهُ كِتَابَةَ الْعِلْمِ حَتَّى أَكْرَهَنَا عَلَيْهِ السُّلْطَانُ فَكَرِهْنَا أَنْ نَمْنَعَهُ أَحَدًا "

Bishr ibn al-Hakam told us, Sufyan told us, on the authority of al-Zuhri, he said: “We hated writing down knowledge until the Sultan forced us to do it.” We hated for anyone to prevent him.”
