أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، عَنْ حَسَّانَ ، قَالَ :" كَانَ جِبْرِيلُ يَنْزِلُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالسُّنَّةِ كَمَا يَنْزِلُ عَلَيْهِ بِالْقُرْآنِ "

Muhammad ibn Kathir told us, on the authority of Al-Awza’i, on the authority of Hassan, who said: “Gabriel used to descend upon the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, according to the Sunnah, as sent down to him the Qur’an.”

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق الْفَزَارِيِّ ، عَنْ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ :" السُّنَّةُ قَاضِيَةٌ عَلَى الْقُرْآنِ وَلَيْسَ الْقُرْآنُ بِقَاضٍ عَلَى السُّنَّةِ "

Muhammad bin Uyaynah informed us, on the authority of Abu Ishaq Al-Fazari, on the authority of Al-Awza’i, on the authority of Yahya bin Abi Kathir, who said: “The Sunnah decrees The Qur’an, and the Qur’an is not a judge of the Sunnah.”

أَخْبَرَنَا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ الْكِنْدِيِّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " حَرَّمَ أَشْيَاءَ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ : الْحِمَارَ وَغَيْرَهُ "، ثُمَّ قَالَ :" لَيُوشِكُ ِالرَّجُل مُتَّكِئًا عَلَى أَرِيكَتِهِ، يُحَدَّثُ بِحَدِيثِي فَيَقُولُ : بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمْ كِتَابُ اللَّهِ، مَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهِ مِنْ حَلَالٍ، اسْتَحْلَلْنَاهُ، وَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهِ مِنْ حَرَامٍ، حَرَّمْنَاهُ، أَلَا وَإِنَّ مَا حَرَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، هُوَ مِثْلُ مَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى "

Asad bin Musa told us, Muawiyah told us, Al-Hasan bin Jabir told us, on the authority of Al-Miqdam bin Maadi Karb Al-Kindi, may God be pleased with him: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace: “He forbade things on the Day of Khaybar: the donkey and other things.” Then he said: “A man will soon come, reclining on his couch. In my hadith, he says: Between us and you is the Book of God. Whatever we find lawful in it, we make lawful, and whatever we find unlawful in it, we make unlawful. The Messenger of God forbade it, it is like what God Almighty forbade.”

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ نَازِلًا عَلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ فَأَتَاهُ رَسُولُ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ حِينَ حَضَرَهُ رَمَضَانُ بِأَلْفَيْ دِرْهَمٍ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ الْأَمِيرَ يُقْرِئُكَ السَّلَامَ، وَقَالَ : إِنَّا لَمْ نَدَعْ قَارِئًا شَرِيفًا إِلَّا وَقَدْ وَصَلَ إِلَيْهِ مِنَّا مَعْرُوفٌ، فَاسْتَعِنْ بِهَذَيْنِ عَلَى نَفَقَةِ شَهْرِكَ هَذَا، فَقَالَ : أَقْرِئْ الْأَمِيرَ السَّلَامَ، وَقُلْ لَهُ :" إِنَّا وَاللَّهِ مَا قَرَأْنَا الْقُرْآنَ نُرِيدُ بِهِ الدُّنْيَا وَدِرْهَمَهَا "

Muhammad bin Humaid told us, Muhammad bin Bishr told us, Abdullah bin Al-Walid told us, on the authority of Omar bin Ayyub, on the authority of Abu Iyas, he said I was camping with Amr ibn al-Nu`man, and the messenger of Mus`ab ibn al-Zubayr came to him when Ramadan attended him with two thousand dirhams, and he said: The prince is honoring you. Peace be upon him, and he said: We have not called an honorable reciter unless a favor has been done to him from us, so seek help from these two at your expense this month. So he said: Read. Prince, peace be upon him, and say to him: “By God, we have not read the Qur’an intending with it the world and its dirhams.”

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ لِكَعْبٍ :" مَنْ أَرْبَابُ الْعِلْمِ؟، قَالَ : الَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ بِمَا يَعْلَمُونَ، قَالَ : فَمَا أَخْرَجَ الْعِلْمَ مِنْ قُلُوبِ الْعُلَمَاءِ؟، قَالَ : الطَّمَعُ "

Muhammad bin Yusuf told us, on the authority of Sufyan, that Omar, may God be pleased with him, said to Ka’b: “Who are the masters of knowledge?” He said: Those who work with They know. He said: What brought knowledge out of the hearts of scholars? He said: Greed.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ الْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ رَحِمَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ، قَالَ :" مَنْ ضَحِكَ ضَحْكَةً مَجَّ مَجَّةً مِنْ الْعِلْمِ "

Muhammad bin Humaid told us, Jarir told us, on the authority of Al-Fudayl bin Ghazwan, on the authority of Ali bin Hussein, may God have mercy on him, he said: “Whoever laughed "Laughter, a wave of knowledge."

أَخْبَرَنَا شِهَابُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ أُمَيٍّ الْمُرَادِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَلِيٌّ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ :" تَعَلَّمُوا الْعِلْمَ، فَإِذَا عَلِمْتُمُوهُ، فَاكْظِمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَلَا تَشُوبُوهُ بِضَحِكٍ، وَلَا بِلَعِبٍ فَتَمُجَّهُ الْقُلُوبُ "

Shihab bin Abbad told us, Sufyan bin Uyaynah told us, on the authority of Umayyad Al-Muradi, he said: Ali, may God be pleased with him, said: “Learn knowledge. So when you know it, be silent about it and do not confuse it with laughter or playfulness, lest hearts confuse it.”

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ :" شِنْتُمْ الْعِلْمَ وَأَذْهَبْتُمْ نُورَهُ، وَلَوْ أَدْرَكَنِي وَإِيَّاكُمْ عُمَرُ رِضْوَانُ الله عَلَيْهِ لَأَوْجَعَنَا "

Muhammad ibn Ahmad informed us, saying: I heard Sufyan saying: Ubayd Allah said: “You distorted knowledge and took away its light, even if it reached me.” And beware of Omar, may God be pleased with him, for it pains us.”

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُطَرِّفُ بْنُ مَازِنٍ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ مِقْسَمٍ ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ ، قَالَ :" إِنَّ الْحِكْمَةَ تَسْكُنُ الْقَلْبَ الْوَادِعَ السَّاكِنَ "

Al-Hakam bin Al-Mubarak told us, Mutarrif bin Mazin told us, on the authority of Ya’la bin Maqsim, on the authority of Wahb bin Munabbih, he said: “The Wisdom resides in a meek and calm heart.”

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شُبْرُمَةَ ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، قَالَ :" زَيْنُ الْعِلْمِ حِلْمُ أَهْلِهِ "

Muhammad bin Humayd told us, Jarir told us, on the authority of Ibn Shubrumah, on the authority of Al-Sha’bi, he said: “Knowledge is beautiful, the dream of its people.”
