أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَامِرًا ، يَقُولُ : اسْتَفْتَى رَجُلٌ أُبَيَّ بْنَ كَعْبٍ ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَبَا الْمُنْذِرِ، مَا تَقُولُ فِي كَذَا وَكَذَا؟، قَالَ : يَا بُنَيَّ، أَكَانَ الَّذِي سَأَلْتَنِي عَنْهُ؟، قَالَ : لَا، قَالَ :" أَمَّا لَا، فَأَجِّلْنِي حَتَّى يَكُونَ، فَنُعَالِجَ أَنْفُسَنَا حَتَّى نُخْبِرَكَ "

Ahmad bin Abdullah bin Yunus told us, Zuhayr told us, Ismail bin Abi Khalid told us, he said: I heard Amir saying: He asked a fatwa. A man, Ubayy ibn Ka'b, said: O Abu Al-Mundhir, what do you say about such-and-such? He said: My son, was it what you asked me about? أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّ صَبِيغًا الْعِرَاقِيَّ، جَعَلَ يَسْأَلُ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ مِنْ الْقُرْآنِ فِي أَجْنَادِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ حَتَّى قَدِمَ مِصْرَ ، فَبَعَثَ بِهِ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ إِلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، فَلَمَّا أَتَاهُ الرَّسُولُ بِالْكِتَابِ فَقَرَأَهُ، فَقَالَ : أَيْنَ الرَّجُلُ؟، قَالَ : فِي الرَّحْلِ، قَالَ عُمَرُ :" أَبْصِرْ أَنْ يَكُونُ ذَهَبَ فَتُصِيبَكَ مِنِّي بِهِ الْعُقُوبَةُ الْمُوجِعَةُ، فَأَتَاهُ بِهِ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : تَسْأَلُ مُحْدَثَةً، فَأَرْسَلَ عُمَرُ إِلَى رَطَائِبَ مِنْ جَرِيدٍ، فَضَرَبَهُ بِهَا حَتَّى تَرَكَ ظَهْرَهُ دَبِرَةً، ثُمَّ تَرَكَهُ حَتَّى بَرَأَ، ثُمَّ عَادَ لَهُ، ثُمَّ تَرَكَهُ حَتَّى بَرَأَ، فَدَعَا بِهِ لِيَعُودَ لَهُ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ صَبِيغٌ : إِنْ كُنْتَ تُرِيدُ قَتْلِي، فَاقْتُلْنِي قَتْلًا جَمِيلًا، وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُدَاوِيَنِي، فَقَدْ وَاللَّهِ بَرِئْتُ، فَأَذِنَ لَهُ إِلَى أَرْضِهِ، وَكَتَبَ إِلَى أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، أَنْ لَا يُجَالِسَهُ أَحَدٌ مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، فَاشْتَدَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ، فَكَتَبَ أَبُو مُوسَى إِلَى عُمَرَ : أَنْ قَدْ حَسُنَتْ تَوْبَتُهُ، فَكَتَبَ عُمَرُ : أَنْ ائْذَنْ لِلنَّاسِ بِمُجَالَسَتِهِ "

Abdullah bin Salih told us, Al-Layth told me, Ibn Ajlan told me, on the authority of Nafi’, servant of Abdullah, that Sabigh Al-Iraqi, He started asking about things from the Qur’an among the Muslim soldiers until he came to Egypt, so Amr bin Al-Aas, may God be pleased with him, sent him to Omar bin Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him. When the Messenger brought him the letter, he read it and said: Where is the man? He said: He was traveling. Omar said: I see that there is gold. So the painful punishment from me will befall you, so he brought it to him, and Omar said: You should ask something new, so Omar sent for Rataib from Jared, and he hit him with it. Until he left his back rotten, then he left it until he was healed, then he returned to him, then he left him until he was healed, so he called for him to return to him, he said: So Sabigh said: If you want to kill me, then kill me beautifully, and if you want to heal me, then, by God, I have been healed. So he granted him permission to return to his land, and wrote To Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari, may God be pleased with him, that no Muslim should sit with him. This became difficult for the man, so Abu Musa wrote to Omar: “His repentance has been good,” so Omar wrote: “The people have been given permission to sit with him.”

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق الْفَزَارِيِّ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ :" لَأَنْ أَرُدَّهُ بِعِيِّهِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَتَكَلَّفَ لَهُ مَا لَا أَعْلَمُ "

Muhammad bin Uyaynah told us, on the authority of Abu Ishaq Al-Fazari, on the authority of Ibn Aoun, on the authority of Ibn Sirin, on the authority of Humaid bin Abdul Rahman, he said “It is more beloved to me to return him with his own good than to burden him with what I do not know.”

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصٌ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ عَبْدُ اللَّه عَنْ شَيْءٍ، فَقَالَ :" إِنِّي لَأَكْرَهُ أَنْ أُحِلَّ لَكَ شَيْئًا حَرَّمَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ، أَوْ أُحَرِّمَ مَا أَحَلَّهُ اللَّهُ لَكَ "

Abdullah bin Muhammad told us, Hafs told us, on the authority of Al-Amash, on the authority of Shaqiq, he said: Abdullah was asked about something, and he said: “I hate To make lawful for you something that God has made unlawful to you, or to make unlawful what God has made lawful for you.”

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ : تَلَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : # هُوَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ مِنْهُ آيَاتٌ مُحْكَمَاتٌ هُنَّ أُمُّ الْكِتَابِ وَأُخَرُ مُتَشَابِهَاتٌ سورة آل عمران آية 7 # فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" إِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ الَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ مَا تَشَابَهَ مِنْهُ، فَاحْذَرُوهُمْ "

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا يُقَالُ لَهُ : صَبِيغٌ قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ فَجَعَلَ يَسْأَلُ عَنْ مُتَشَابِهِ الْقُرْآنِ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ وَقَدْ أَعَدَّ لَهُ عَرَاجِينَ النَّخْلِ، فَقَالَ :" مَنْ أَنْتَ؟، قَالَ : أَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ صَبِيغٌ، فَأَخَذَ عُمَرُ عُرْجُونًا مِنْ تِلْكَ الْعَرَاجِينِ، فَضَرَبَهُ وَقَالَ : أَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عُمَرُ فَجَعَلَ لَهُ ضَرْبًا حَتَّى دَمِيَ رَأْسُهُ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، حَسْبُكَ، قَدْ ذَهَبَ الَّذِي كُنْتُ أَجِدُ فِي رَأْسِي "

Abu Al-Numan told us, Hammad bin Zaid told us, Yazid bin Hazim told us, on the authority of Sulayman bin Yasar, that a man called: Sabigh came Medina, so he began to ask about the similarity of the Qur’an, so Omar, may God be pleased with him, sent to him and prepared palm trees for him, and he said: “Who are you?” He said: I am Abdullah Sabigh. So Omar took one of those lame men, hit him and said: I am Abdullah Omar, so he beat him until his head bled. He said: O Commander of the Faithful, it is enough for you, what I had in my head has disappeared.

حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَأَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ :" عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْعِلْمِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُقْبَضَ، وَقَبْضُهُ أَنْ يُذْهَبَ بِأَصْحَابِهِ، عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْعِلْمِ، فَإِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَا يَدْرِي مَتَى يُفْتَقَرُ إِلَيْهِ أَوْ يُفْتَقَرُ إِلَى مَا عِنْدَهُ، إِنَّكُمْ سَتَجِدُونَ أَقْوَامًا يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّهُمْ يَدْعُونَكُمْ إِلَى كِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَقَدْ نَبَذُوهُ وَرَاءَ ظُهُورِهِمْ، فَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالْعِلْمِ، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالتَّبَدُّعَ، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالتَّنَطُّعَ، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالتَّعَمُّقَ، وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالْعَتِيقِ "

Suleiman bin Harb and Abu Numan told us, on the authority of Hammad bin Zayd, on the authority of Ayyub, on the authority of Abu Qalaba, who said: Ibn Masoud, may God be pleased with him, said: On his authority: “You must have knowledge before it is captured, and when it is seized it takes away its owners. You must have knowledge, for none of you knows when He lacks it or lacks what he has. You will find people who claim that they are calling you to the Book of God, but they have abandoned it after Their backs, so beware of knowledge, beware of creativity, beware of arrogance, beware of going deeper, and beware of the old.”

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ :" تَعَلَّمُوا الْعِلْمَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُقْبَضَ، وَقَبْضُهُ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ أَهْلُهُ، أَلَا وَإِيَّاكُمْ، وَالتَّنَطُّعَ، وَالتَّعَمُّقَ، وَالْبِدَعَ، وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالْعَتِيقِ "

Abu Al-Mughirah told us, Al-Awza’i told us, on the authority of Yahya bin Abi Kathir, on the authority of Abu Qalaba, he said: Abdullah bin Masoud said May God be pleased with him: “Learn knowledge before it is seized, and its seizure is when its people go away. Beware of extravagance, going deeper, and innovations. And upon you is the old one.”

أَخْبَرَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَزْهَرُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، قَالَ :" مَا دَامَ عَلَى الْأَثَرِ، فَهُوَ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ "

Yusuf bin Musa told us, Azhar told us, on the authority of Ibn Aoun, on the authority of Ibn Sirin, he said: “As long as he is on the trail, he is on the path.”

أَخْبَرَنَا مَخْلَدُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ بن جابر ، أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، قَالَ :" كَانُوا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ مَا كَانَ عَلَى الْأَثَرِ "
