حَدَّثَنِي مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي مُوسَى ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يُسَمَّى : زِيَادًا ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِأُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ : أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ أَنَّ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُتْنَ، كَانَ يَحِلُّ لَهُ أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ،إِنَّمَا أَحَلَّ اللَّهُ لَهُ ضَرْبًا مِنَ النِّسَاءِ، وَوَصَفَ لَهُ صِفَةً "، فَقَالَ : " لَا يَحِلُّ لَكَ النِّسَاءُ مِنْ بَعْدُ، مِنْ بَعْدِ هَذِهِ الصِّفَةِ "

Mu’alla bin Asad told me, he said: Wahib told us, on the authority of Dawud bin Abi Hind, on the authority of Muhammad bin Abi Musa, on the authority of a man from the Ansar called Ziyad, who said: I said to Ubayy ibn Ka’b: Have you seen that if the Prophet’s wives, may God bless him and grant him peace, had died, would it have been permissible for him to marry? He said: “Yes, God only made it permissible for him to have any kind of women, and He described a characteristic for him.” Then he said: “It is not permissible for you to have women after this description.”
