Yazid bin Harun told us, on the authority of Hammam, on the authority of Qatada, on the authority of Al-Hasan, on the authority of Uqba bin Al-Amir, he said: The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said He said: “The slave’s custody is for three days.”
Qatada explained it: If he finds a defect in the three, he should return it without proof, and if he finds it after three, he should not return it except with proof.
