وَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ بَيْعِ الْخَمْرِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الذِّمَّةِ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : إِنَّ لَنَا أَعْنَابًا، وَإِنَّا نَتَّخِذُ مِنْهَا هَذِهِ الْخُمُورَ فَنَبِيعُهَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الذِّمَّةِ ؟.
قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : أَهْدَى رَجُلٌ مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ أَوْ دَوْسٍ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَاوِيَةً مِنْ خَمْرٍ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَمَا عَلِمْتَ يَا أَبَا فُلَانٍ أَنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ حَرَّمَهَا؟ ".
قَالَ : لَا وَاللَّهِ.
قَالَ :" فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ حَرَّمَهَا ".
فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَى غُلَامِهِ، فَقَالَ : اخْرُجْ بِهَا إِلَى الْحَزْوَرَةِ فَبِعْهَا، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَوَ مَا عَلِمْتَ يَا أَبَا فُلَانٍ، أَنَّ الَّذِي حَرَّمَ شُرْبَهَا، حَرَّمَ بَيْعَهَا؟ ".
قَالَ : فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَأُفْرِغَتْ فِي الْبَطْحَاءِ

I asked him about selling wine from non-Muslims, and I said to him: We have grapes, and we take these wines from them and sell them from… People of the Dhimmah?
Ibn Abbas said: A man from Thaqif or Dus gave the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, a liter of wine during the Farewell Pilgrimage, so he said to him The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace: “Did you not know, O Abu So-and-so, that God has forbidden it?”
He said: No, by God.
He said: “For God has forbidden it.”
Then he turned to his servant and said: Take it out to the party and sell it. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to him: “Do you not know, oh? Abu So-and-so, that the one who forbade drinking it also forbade selling it.”
He said: So he ordered it to be emptied into Batha.
