Sunan al-Darimi – سنن الدارمي – Hadith #1862

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" نَفْسُ الْمُؤْمِنِ مُعَلَّقَةٌ مَا كَانَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ "
Muhammad bin Yusuf informed us, on the authority of Sufyan, on the authority of Saad bin Ibrahim, on the authority of Omar bin Abi Salamah, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “The soul of the believer is on hold as long as he is in debt.”
