أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : أَخْبَرَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ الْأَزْدِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُبْشِيٍّ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ : أَيُّ الْأَعْمَالِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ :" إِيمَانٌ لَا شَكَّ فِيهِ، وَجِهَادٌ لَا غُلُولَ فِيهِ، وَحَجَّةٌ مَبْرُورَةٌ ".
قِيلَ : فَأَيُّ الصَّلَاةِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ : " طُولُ الْقِيَامِ ".
قِيلَ : فَأَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ : " جُهْدُ مُقِلٍّ ".
قِيلَ : فَأَيُّ الْهِجْرَةِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ : " أَنْ تَهْجُرَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ ".
قِيلَ : فَأَيُّ الْجِهَادِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ : " مَنْ جَاهَدَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ بِمَالِهِ وَنَفْسِهِ ".
قِيلَ : فَأَيُّ الْقَتْلِ أَشْرَفُ؟ قَالَ : " مَنْ عُقِرَ جَوَادُهُ وَأُهْرِيقَ دَمُهُ "

Ahmad bin Abdullah told us, Hajjaj bin Muhammad told us, he said: Ibn Juraij said: Uthman bin Abi Sulayman told me, on the authority of Ali Al-Azdi, on the authority of Ubaid bin Umair Al-Laythi, on the authority of Abdullah bin Habashi, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, was asked: Which deed is best? He said: “Faith in which there is no doubt, jihad in which there is no mistake, and an accepted Hajj.”
It was said: Which prayer is best? He said: “Long standing.”
It was said: Which charity is better? He said: “Insignificant effort.”
It was said: Which migration is best? He said: “To abandon what God has forbidden to you.”
It was said: Which jihad is better? He said: “Whoever fights the polytheists with his wealth and his life.”
It was said: Which killing is more honorable? He said: “Whoever hamstrings his horse and sheds its blood.”
