أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَشْعَثُ ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ ، وَعَلِيٍّ ، وَزَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : وَأَحْسَبُهُ قَدْ ذَكَرَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ أَيْضًا : أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا :" الْوَلَاءُ لِلْكُبْرِ.
يَعْنُونَ بِالْكُبْرِ : مَا كَانَ أَقْرَبَ بِأَبٍ أَوْ أُمٍّ "

Yazid bin Harun told us, Ash'ath told us, on the authority of Al-Sha'bi, on the authority of Omar, Ali, and Zaid, he said: And I think he mentioned Abdullah Also: They said: “Loyalty is to pride.”
“By greatness they mean: the one who is closer to father or mother.”
