Sunan al-Darimi – سنن الدارمي – Hadith #2527

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ : " فِي رَجُلٍ قَالَ : أَحَدُ غُلَامَيَّ حُرٌّ ثُمَّ مَاتَ، وَلَمْ يُبَيِّنْ، قَالَ :الْوَرَثَةُ بِمَنْزِلَتِهِ يُعْتِقُونَ أَيَّهُمَا أَحَبُّوا "
Ahmad bin Abdullah narrated to us, Abu Bakr narrated to us, on the authority of Mutarrif, on the authority of Al-Sha’bi: “About a man who said: One of my servants is free, then he died, and he did not Explaining, he said: The heirs are freed according to his status, whichever of them they like.
