Ubayd Allah ibn Musa told us, on the authority of Sufyan, on the authority of Amr ibn Yahya, my father told me on the authority of Abu Sa`id al-Khudri, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. He, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: “There is no zakat on what is less than five wasqs, and there is no zakat on what is less than five awqs, and there is no zakat on what is less than five dawd.”
Abu Muhammad said: Al-Wasq means sixty saa’s, and a saa’ means one-and-a-half moons according to the people of Hijaz, and four amnas according to the people of Iraq.
