Sunan al-Darimi – سنن الدارمي – Hadith #1298

أَخْبَرَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَأَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " مَا بَالِي وَلِلْكِلَابِ؟ "، ثُمَّ رَخَّصَ فِي كَلْبِ الرَّعْيِ وَكَلْبِ الصَّيْدِ
Wahb bin Jarir told us, Shu’bah told us, on the authority of Abu al-Tayyah, on the authority of Mutarrif, on the authority of Abdullah bin Mughaffal, that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him He gave the order to kill the dogs, then said: “What do I care about the dogs?” Then he gave permission for herding dogs and hunting dogs.
