أَخْبَرَنَا سُهَلُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكٌ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنَ وَائِلٍ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَائِلٍ ، أَنَّ سُوَيْدَ بْنَ طَارِقٍ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الْخَمْرِ، فَنَهَاهُ عَنْهَا أَنْ يَصْنَعَهَا، فَقَالَ : إِنَّهَا دَوَاءٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّهَالَيْسَتْ دَوَاءً وَلَكِنَّهَا دَاءٌ "

Sahl bin Hammad told us, Shu’bah told us, Sammak told us, he said: I heard Alqamah bin Wa’il speaking, on the authority of his father Wael, that Suwayd bin Tariq asked the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, about alcohol, and he forbade him from making it, so he said: It is a medicine, so the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said May God bless him and grant him peace: “It is not a cure, but it is a disease.”
