  • Sunan al-Darimi – سنن الدارمي – Hadith #245

    أَخْبَرَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ شُعَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ كَانَ، يَقُولُ :" لِكُلِّ صَلَاتَيْنِ اغْتِسَالَةٌ، وَتُفْرِدُ لِصَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ اغْتِسَالَةً "
    Wahb bin Saeed told us, on the authority of Shuaib, Al-Awza’i told us, Ataa told me, that Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with him, used to say: There is an ablution for every two prayers, and one ablution is allocated for the morning prayer.”

    أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَطَاءُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ، رضى الله عنها أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ إِذَا اغْتَسَلَ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ وُضِعَ لَهُ الإِنَاءُ فَيَصُبُّ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُدْخِلَهُمَا الإِنَاءَ حَتَّى إِذَا غَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ أَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى فِي الإِنَاءِ ثُمَّ صَبَّ بِالْيُمْنَى وَغَسَلَ فَرْجَهُ بِالْيُسْرَى حَتَّى إِذَا فَرَغَ صَبَّ بِالْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى فَغَسَلَهُمَا ثُمَّ تَمَضْمَضَ وَاسْتَنْشَقَ ثَلاَثًا ثُمَّ يَصُبُّ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِلْءَ كَفَّيْهِ ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ يُفِيضُ عَلَى جَسَدِهِ ‏.‏
    'Aishah narrated that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed Ghusl from Janabah, the vessel (of water) would be placed before him, and he would pour water over his hands before putting then into the vessel. When he had washed his hands, he would put his right hand in the vessel then pour water with his right hand and wash his private parts with his left hand. When he had finished, he would pour water with his right hand over his left hand and wash them both. Then he would rinse his mouth and nose three times, then he would pour water filling both of his hands over his head three times, then he would pour water over his body.

    حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ إِيَاسٍ الْجُرَيْرِيُّ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَبَايَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ، قَالَ سَمِعَنِي أَبِي، وَأَنَا فِي الصَّلاَةِ، أَقُولُ‏:‏ ‏(‏بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ‏)‏ فَقَالَ لِي أَىْ بُنَىَّ مُحْدَثٌ إِيَّاكَ وَالْحَدَثَ ‏.‏ قَالَ وَلَمْ أَرَ أَحَدًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ أَبْغَضَ إِلَيْهِ الْحَدَثُ فِي الإِسْلاَمِ يَعْنِي مِنْهُ ‏.‏ قَالَ وَقَدْ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ وَمَعَ عُثْمَانَ فَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَحَدًا مِنْهُمْ يَقُولُهَا فَلاَ تَقُلْهَا إِذَا أَنْتَ صَلَّيْتَ فَقُلِ‏:‏ ‏(‏الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ‏)‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ ‏.‏ وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ أَكْثَرِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْهُمْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ وَعَلِيٌّ وَغَيْرُهُمْ وَمَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ مِنَ التَّابِعِينَ وَبِهِ يَقُولُ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ وَابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ وَأَحْمَدُ وَإِسْحَاقُ لاَ يَرَوْنَ أَنْ يَجْهَرَ بِـ ‏(‏بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ‏)‏ قَالُوا وَيَقُولُهَا فِي نَفْسِهِ ‏.‏
    Ibn Abdullah bin Mughaffal narrated: "While I was praying, I said: Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim "In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Beneficent." My father heard me and said: "O my son this is a newly invented matter, beware of the newly-invented.'" He (Ibn Abdullah) said: "I have not seen any one of the Companions of Allah's Messenger who hated a newly invented matter in Islam more than him. And he said: 'Ihave performed Salat with the Prophet, and with Abu Bakr, and Umar, and with Uthman. I did not hear any one of them saying it. So do not say it. When you are performing Salat say: Al-Hamdu lilahi Rabbil-Alamin "All praise is due to Allah the Lord of all that exists.'"

    أَخْبَرَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ، عَنْ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ ، وَيَحْيَى بْنَ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، يَقُولَانِ :" تُفْرِدُ لِكُلِّ صَلَاةٍ اغْتِسَالَةً "، قَالَ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ : وَبَلَغَنِي عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ
    Wahb bin Saeed Al-Dimashqi told us, on the authority of Shuaib bin Ishaq, Al-Awza’i told us, he said: I heard Al-Zuhri and Yahya bin Abi Many people say: “A single ablution is given for each prayer.” Al-Awza’i said: And I was informed of an unjustified hadith similar to that.

    أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَشْهَبُ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ شِهَابٍ، وَهِشَامَ بْنَ عُرْوَةَ، حَدَّثَاهُ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، – رضى الله عنها – قَالَتْ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَأَهْلَلْتُ بِالْعُمْرَةِ فَقَدِمْتُ مَكَّةَ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ فَلَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَلاَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَشَكَوْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ ‏"‏ انْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ وَدَعِي الْعُمْرَةَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَفَعَلْتُ فَلَمَّا قَضَيْنَا الْحَجَّ أَرْسَلَنِي مَعَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَاعْتَمَرْتُ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ هَذِهِ مَكَانَ عُمْرَتِكِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ لَمْ يَرْوِهِ أَحَدٌ إِلاَّ أَشْهَبُ ‏.‏
    It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "We went out with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage. I (said the Talbiyah) for 'Umrah and I arrived in Makkah while I was menstruating, so I did not perform Tawaf around the House nor between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. I complained about that to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and he said: 'Undo your braids and comb your hair, and enter (begin the Talbiyah) for Hajj, and leave the 'Umrah.' So I did that, and then when we had completed Hajj, he sent me with 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakr to At-Tan'im, and I performed 'Umrah. He said: 'This is in place of your 'Umrah.'"
    Abu 'Abdur-Rahman said: This Hadith is Gharib as a narration of Malik from Hisham, from 'Urwah. No one except Asshab reported it.

  • Jami’ al-Tirmidhi – جامع الترمذي – Hadith #243

    حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ أَبِي الرِّجَالِ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلاَةَ قَالَ ‏
    "‏ سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ وَلاَ إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَائِشَةَ إِلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ ‏.‏ وَحَارِثَةُ قَدْ تُكُلِّمَ فِيهِ مِنْ قِبَلِ حِفْظِهِ ‏.‏ وَأَبُو الرِّجَالِ اسْمُهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَدِينِيُّ ‏.‏
    Aishah narrated: "When the Prophet opened the Salat he would say: (Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika wa tabarakasmuka, wa ta'ala jadduka wa la ilaha ghairuk)" 'Glorious You are O Allah, and with Your praise, and blessed is Your Name, and exalted is Your majesty, and none has the right to be worshipped but You.'

    أَخْبَرَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا : أَنَّ ابْنَةَ جَحْشٍ كَانَتْ تَحْتَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ" وَكَانَتْ تُسْتَحَاضُ، فَكَانَتْ تَخْرُجُ مِنْ مِرْكَنِهَا وَإِنَّهُ لَعَالِيهِ الدَّمُ فَتُصَلِّي "
    Hajjaj told us, Hammad told us, on the authority of Hisham ibn Urwa, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Zainab bint Umm Salamah, may God be pleased with her: that the daughter of A colt was under Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, and she was having her period of menstruation, so she would come out of her place, and it was bleeding, so she would pray.

    أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، – رضى الله عنها – زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَتْ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ أَشُدُّ ضَفْرَ رَأْسِي أَفَأَنْقُضُهَا عِنْدَ غَسْلِهَا مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ قَالَ ‏
    "‏ إِنَّمَا يَكْفِيكِ أَنْ تَحْثِي عَلَى رَأْسِكِ ثَلاَثَ حَثَيَاتٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ ثُمَّ تُفِيضِينَ عَلَى جَسَدِكِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
    It was narrated that Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ), said: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman with tightly braided hair; should I undo it when performing Ghusl from Janabah?' He said: 'No it is sufficient for you to pour three handfuls of water over your body.'"

    حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الضُّبَعِيُّ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الرِّفَاعِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ بِاللَّيْلِ كَبَّرَ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ ‏"‏ سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ وَلاَ إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ ‏"‏ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ كَبِيرًا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ ‏"‏ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ السَّمِيعِ الْعَلِيمِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ مِنْ هَمْزِهِ وَنَفْخِهِ وَنَفْثِهِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ وَعَائِشَةَ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَجَابِرٍ وَجُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَحَدِيثُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَشْهَرُ حَدِيثٍ فِي هَذَا الْبَابِ ‏.‏ وَقَدْ أَخَذَ قَوْمٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ وَأَمَّا أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ فَقَالُوا بِمَا رُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ ‏"‏ سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ وَلاَ إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَهَكَذَا رُوِيَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ‏.‏ وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَكْثَرِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنَ التَّابِعِينَ وَغَيْرِهِمْ ‏.‏ وَقَدْ تُكُلِّمَ فِي إِسْنَادِ حَدِيثِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ كَانَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ يَتَكَلَّمُ فِي عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الرِّفَاعِيِّ وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ لاَ يَصِحُّ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ ‏.‏
    Abu Sa'eeed Al Khudri narrated: "When Allah;s Messenger stood for Salat during the night, he would say the Takbir (Allahu Akbar), then say: (Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika wa Tabarakasmuka wa Ta'ala Jadduka wa la ilaha ghairuk.) 'Glorious You are O Allah, and with Your praise, and blesses is Your Name, and exalted is Your majesty, and none has the right to be worshipped but You' Then he would say: (A'udhu Bilahi As-Sami'il-Alimi min Ash-Shaitanir-Rajimi, min Hamzihi Wa Nafkhihi wa Nafthihi.)" 'Allah is undoubtedly the greatest.' (Allahu Akbaru Kabira). Then he would say: 'I seek refuge in Allah the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from the cursed Shaitan, from his madness, his arrogance, and his poetry.'

    أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ ، يَقُولُ : كَتَبَتْ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، وَابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا : إِنِّي أُسْتَحَاضُ فَلَا أَطْهُرُ، وَإِنِّي أُذَكِّرُكُمَا اللَّهَ إِلَّا أَفْتَيْتُمَانِي، وَإِنِّي سَأَلْتُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالُوا : كَانَ عَلِيٌّ ، يَقُولُ :" تَغْتَسِلُ لِكُلِّ صَلَاةٍ "، فَقَرَأْتُ، وَكَتَبْتُ الْجَوَابَ بِيَدِي مَا أَجِدُ لَهَا إِلَّا مَا قَالَ عَلِيٌّ، فَقِيلَ : إِنَّ الْكُوفَةَ أَرْضٌ بَارِدَةٌ، فَقَالَ : " لَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَابْتَلَاهَا بِأَشَدَّ مِنْ ذَلِكَ "، أَخْبَرَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، قَالَ : قِيلَ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا : إِنَّ أَرْضَهَا أَرْضٌ بَارِدَةٌ، فَقَالَ : " تُؤَخِّرُ الظُّهْرَ وَتُعَجِّلُ الْعَصْرَ، وَتَغْتَسِلُ غُسْلًا، وَتُؤَخِّرُ الْمَغْرِبَ، وَتُعَجِّلُ الْعِشَاءَ، وَتَغْتَسِلُ غُسْلًا، وَتَغْتَسِلُ لِلْفَجْرِ غُسْلًا "
    Abd al-Samad bin Abd al-Warith told us, Shu`bah told us, Abu Bishr told us, he said: I heard Sa`id bin Jubayr, saying: I wrote A woman said to Ibn Abbas and Ibn al-Zubayr, may God be pleased with them: I have menstruation but have not become pure, and I remind you by God unless you give me a fatwa. I asked about that, and they said: Ali used to say: “You wash for every prayer.” So I read and wrote the answer with my own hand. I couldn’t find anything for it except what he said. Ali, and it was said: Kufa is a cold land, so he said: “If God had willed, He would have afflicted it with something more severe than that.” Hajjaj bin Minhal told us, he told us Hammad, on the authority of Qais, on the authority of Mujahid, said: It was said to Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them both: Its land is a cold land, so he said: “It delays the noon prayer and hastens it.” 'Asr, and you take a bath once, you delay Maghrib, you hurry up for Isha, you take a bath once, and you take a bath for Fajr once."
