  • Sunan an-Nasa’i – سنن النسائي – Hadith #211

    أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ، كَانَتْ تُسْتَحَاضُ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ فَسَأَلَتِ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ ‏
    "‏ لَيْسَتْ بِالْحَيْضَةِ إِنَّمَا هُوَ عِرْقٌ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَتْرُكَ الصَّلاَةَ قَدْرَ أَقْرَائِهَا وَحَيْضَتِهَا وَتَغْتَسِلَ وَتُصَلِّيَ فَكَانَتْ تَغْتَسِلُ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ ‏.‏
    It was narrated from 'Aishah that Umm Habibah bint Jahsh used to suffer from Istihadah (non-menstrual vaginal bleeding) for seven years. She asked the Prophet (ﷺ) and he said: "That is not menstruation, rather it is a vein. Tell her not to pray for the amount of time that her period used to last, then let her perform Ghusl and pray.' She used to perform Ghusl for every prayer.

    حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ عَسْكَرٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏
    "‏ مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يَسْمَعُ النِّدَاءَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ وَالصَّلاَةِ الْقَائِمَةِ آتِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا الَّذِي وَعَدْتَهُ إِلاَّ حَلَّتْ لَهُ الشَّفَاعَةُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ جَابِرٍ حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ لاَ نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا رَوَاهُ غَيْرَ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ‏.‏ وَأَبُو حَمْزَةَ اسْمُهُ دِينَارٌ ‏.‏
    Jabir bin Abdullah narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: "Whoever says, when he hears the call: (Allahumma, rabba hadhihidda 'watit-tammati was Salatilqa'imah, ati Muhammadanil wasilata wal-Fadilata, wab'athhu Maqamun Mahmudan alladhi wa'adtahu) 'O Allah! Lord of this perfect call and established prayer, grant Muhammad Al-Wasilah and Al-Fadilah, and raise him to the praised station that you promised him' – then intercession on the Day of Resurrection is made lawful for him."

    أَخْبَرَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، قَالَ :" لَيْسَ فِي التَّرِيَّةِ بَعْدَ الْغُسْلِ إِلَّا الطُّهُورُ "
    Hajjaj told us, Hammad bin Salamah told us, on the authority of Qays, on the authority of Ata’, who said: “There is nothing in the ritual ritual after washing except purification.”

    أَخْبَرَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ الَّتِي، كَانَتْ تَحْتَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ وَأَنَّهَا اسْتُحِيضَتْ لاَ تَطْهُرْ فَذُكِرَ شَأْنُهَا لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ ‏
    "‏ إِنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ بِالْحَيْضَةِ وَلَكِنَّهَا رَكْضَةٌ مِنَ الرَّحِمِ فَلْتَنْظُرْ قَدْرَ قُرْئِهَا الَّتِي كَانَتْ تَحِيضُ لَهَا فَلْتَتْرُكِ الصَّلاَةَ ثُمَّ تَنْظُرْ مَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
    It was narrated from 'Aishah that Umm Habibah bint Jahsh who was married to 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf suffered from Istihadah (non-mentrual vaginal bleeding) and did not become pure. Her situation was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he said: 'That is not menstruation, rather it is a kick in the womb, so let her work out the length of the menses that she used to have, and stop praying (for that period of tie), then after that period of time), then after that let her perform Ghusl for every prayer.'"

    A kick in the womb: in other narrations means "A kick from Shaitan,", meaning that the Shaitan uses it to confuse her about her religious commitment.

  • Jami’ al-Tirmidhi – جامع الترمذي – Hadith #210

    حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنِ الْحُكَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏
    "‏ مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يَسْمَعُ الْمُؤَذِّنَ وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ رَضِيتُ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولاً وَبِالإِسْلاَمِ دِينًا غُفِرَ لَهُ ذَنْبُهُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ حُكَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ‏.‏
    Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: "Whoever says, when he hears the Mu'adh-dhin: (Wa Ana Ashadu An La Ilaha Illallah, Wahdahu La Sharika Lahu, Wa Anna Muhammadan Abduhu Wa Rasuluhu, Radittu Billahi Rabban Wa Bil-Islam Dinan, Wa Bi Muhammadin Rasulan) 'I too testify that none has the right to be worshiped but Allah, Alone without partners, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion and Muhammad as a Messenger.' – Allah will pardon his sins for him."

  • Sunan al-Darimi – سنن الدارمي – Hadith #210

    حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، وَعَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ الْحَجَّاجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ :" إِذَا رَأَتْ الْمَرْأَةُ التَّرِيَّةَ بَعْدَ الْغُسْلِ بِيَوْمٍ أَوْ يَوْمَيْنِ، فَإِنَّهَا تَطَهَّرُ وَتُصَلِّي "
    Hajjaj and Affan told us, they said: Hammad told us, on the authority of Al-Hajjaj, on the authority of Abu Ishaq, on the authority of Al-Harith, on the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him, that He said: “If a woman sees the turban a day or two after washing, then she should purify herself and pray.”

    أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، تَعْنِي أَنَّ امْرَأَةً، كَانَتْ تُهَرَاقُ الدَّمَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَاسْتَفْتَتْ لَهَا أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ ‏
    "‏ لِتَنْظُرْ عَدَدَ اللَّيَالِي وَالأَيَّامِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ تَحِيضُ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصِيبَهَا الَّذِي أَصَابَهَا فَلْتَتْرُكِ الصَّلاَةَ قَدْرَ ذَلِكَ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ فَإِذَا خَلَّفَتْ ذَلِكَ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ ثُمَّ لْتَسْتَثْفِرْ ثُمَّ لْتُصَلِّي ‏"‏ ‏.‏
    It was narrated from Umm Salamah that a woman suffered constant bleeding at the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), so Umm Salamah consulted the Prophet (ﷺ) for her. He said: "Let her count the number of nights and says that she used to menstruate each month before this happened to her, and let her stop praying for that amount of time each month. Then when that is over let her perform Ghusl, then let her use a pad, and pray."

    حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُبَيْدٍ، – وَهُوَ عَبْثَرُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، قَالَ إِنَّ مِنْ آخِرِ مَا عَهِدَ إِلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنِ اتَّخِذْ مُؤَذِّنًا لاَ يَأْخُذُ عَلَى أَذَانِهِ أَجْرًا ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ عُثْمَانَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ ‏.‏ وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ كَرِهُوا أَنْ يَأْخُذَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ عَلَى الأَذَانِ أَجْرًا وَاسْتَحَبُّوا لِلْمُؤَذِّنِ أَنْ يَحْتَسِبَ فِي أَذَانِهِ ‏.‏
    Uthman bin Abi Al-As narrated: "Indeed, amount the last (of orders) Allah's Messenger ordered me with was to employ a Mu'adh-dhin who would not take a wage for his Adhan."

    أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ وَحَجَّاجٌ ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، وَحُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَ :" لَيْسَ فِي التَّرِيَّةِ شَيْءٌ بَعْدَ الْغُسْلِ إِلَّا الطُّهُورُ "، قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ : التَّرِيَّةُ الصُّفْرَةُ وَالْكُدْرَةُ
    Abu Nu`aym and Hajjaj told us, on the authority of Hammad bin Salamah, on the authority of Yunus, and Humayd, on the authority of Al-Hasan, who said: “There is nothing in the tiriya after washing except “Purity,” Abdullah said: “The purity of yellowness and turbidity.”

    أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ عِرَاكِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ، سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنِ الدَّمِ – قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ رضى الله عنها رَأَيْتُ مِرْكَنَهَا مَلآنَ دَمًا – فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏
    "‏ امْكُثِي قَدْرَ مَا كَانَتْ تَحْبِسُكِ حَيْضَتُكِ ثُمَّ اغْتَسِلِي ‏"‏ ‏.‏
    أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، مَرَّةً أُخْرَى وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ جَعْفَرًا ‏.‏
    It was narrated from 'Aishah that Umm Habibah asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about bleeding. 'Aishah said: "I saw her wash tub filled with blood. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to her: 'Stop (praying) for as long as your period prevents you, then perform Ghusl.'"
