  • Sunan al-Darimi – سنن الدارمي – Hadith #115

    أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ صَاحِبِ الدَّسْتَوَائِيِّ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ "
    Abu Asim told us, on the authority of Hisham, the companion of Al-Dastawai, on the authority of Hammad, on the authority of Ibrahim, on the authority of Al-Aswad, on the authority of Aisha, may God be pleased with her, She said: The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, “used to engage in social gatherings while fasting.”

  • Sunan an-Nasa’i – سنن النسائي – Hadith #114

    أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ، وَكَانَ، يُكْنَى أَبَا هَاشِمٍ ح وَأَنْبَأَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ لَقِيطٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏
    "‏ إِذَا تَوَضَّأْتَ فَأَسْبِغِ الْوُضُوءَ وَخَلِّلْ بَيْنَ الأَصَابِعِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
    It was narrated from 'Asim bin Laqit that his father said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When you perform Wudu', do so properly, and wash in between the fingers (Al-Asabi')."

    Al-Asabi' is plural meaning fingers as well as toes, and the author mentioned only one narration on the topic whereas some of them clarify "of the hands and feet." So he mentioned the general wording amids chapters how to wash the feet.

    حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو السَّوَّاقُ الْبَلْخِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، ح قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنِ الْمَذْىِ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ مِنَ الْمَذْىِ الْوُضُوءُ وَمِنَ الْمَنِيِّ الْغُسْلُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ الْمِقْدَادِ بْنِ الأَسْوَدِ وَأُبَىِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ ‏"‏ مِنَ الْمَذْىِ الْوُضُوءُ وَمِنَ الْمَنِيِّ الْغُسْلُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَهُوَ قَوْلُ عَامَّةِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَالتَّابِعِينَ وَمَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ وَبِهِ يَقُولُ سُفْيَانُ وَالشَّافِعِيُّ وَأَحْمَدُ وَإِسْحَاقُ ‏.‏
    Ali narrated: "I asked the Prophet about Al-Madhi. He said: "For Al-Madhi is Wudu, and for AI-Mani is Ghusl."

    أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، وَعَمْرَةَ بِنْتِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَتْ : اسْتُحِيضَتْ أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتُ جَحْشٍ وَهِيَ تَحْتَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ، فَشَكَتْ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" إِنَّ هَذِهِ لَيْسَتْ بِالْحَيْضَةِ، وَإِنَّمَا هِيَ عِرْقٌ، فَإِذَا أَقْبَلَتْ الْحَيْضَةُ، فَدَعِي الصَّلَاةَ، وَإِذَا أَدْبَرَتْ، فَاغْتَسِلِي ثُمَّ صَلِّي "، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : فَكَانَتْ تَغْتَسِلُ لِكُلِّ صَلَاةٍ، ثُمَّ تُصَلِّي، وَكَانَتْ تَقْعُدُ فِي مِرْكَنٍ لِأُخْتِهَا زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ حَتَّى إِنَّ حُمْرَةَ الدَّمِ لَتَعْلُو الْمَاءَ
    Abu Al-Mughirah told us, on the authority of Al-Awza’i, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Urwa bin Al-Zubayr, and Amra bint Abd Al-Rahman bin Saad bin Zurarah, on the authority of Aisha, may God be pleased with her, the wife of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, who said: Umm Habiba bint Jahsh had her menstruation while she was under a slave. Al-Rahman bin Awf for seven years. She complained about this to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “This is not With menstruation, but it is a sweat, so when the menstruation comes, give up prayer, and when it has finished, then wash and pray.” Aisha said: She would wash herself for every prayer, then pray, and she would sit in a place for her sister Zainab bint Jahsh until the redness of the blood rose above the water.

    أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الْمَدَنِيُّ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ، – يَعْنِي عُمَارَةَ – قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الْقَيْسِيُّ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي سَفَرٍ فَأُتِيَ بِمَاءٍ فَقَالَ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ مِنَ الإِنَاءِ فَغَسَلَهُمَا مَرَّةً وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَذِرَاعَيْهِ مَرَّةً مَرَّةً وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ بِيَمِينِهِ كِلْتَيْهِمَا ‏.‏
    Al-Qaisi narrated that he was with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on a journey, and some water was brought to him. He poured some onto his hands from the vessel and washed them once, then he washed his face and each arm once, and he washed his feet with both hands.

    حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْخَيَّاطُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، هُوَ الْعُمَرِيُّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَجِدُ الْبَلَلَ وَلاَ يَذْكُرُ احْتِلاَمًا قَالَ ‏"‏ يَغْتَسِلُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَعَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَرَى أَنَّهُ قَدِ احْتَلَمَ وَلَمْ يَجِدْ بَلَلاً قَالَ ‏"‏ لاَ غُسْلَ عَلَيْهِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ تَرَى ذَلِكَ غُسْلٌ قَالَ ‏"‏ نَعَمْ إِنَّ النِّسَاءَ شَقَائِقُ الرِّجَالِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَإِنَّمَا رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ حَدِيثَ عَائِشَةَ فِي الرَّجُلِ يَجِدُ الْبَلَلَ وَلاَ يَذْكُرُ احْتِلاَمًا ‏.‏ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ضَعَّفَهُ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ مِنْ قِبَلِ حِفْظِهِ فِي الْحَدِيثِ ‏.‏ وَهُوَ قَوْلُ غَيْرِ وَاحِدٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَالتَّابِعِينَ إِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ الرَّجُلُ فَرَأَى بِلَّةً أَنَّهُ يَغْتَسِلُ ‏.‏ وَهُوَ قَوْلُ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ وَأَحْمَدَ ‏.‏ وَقَالَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنَ التَّابِعِينَ إِنَّمَا يَجِبُ عَلَيْهِ الْغُسْلُ إِذَا كَانَتِ الْبِلَّةُ بِلَّةَ نُطْفَةٍ ‏.‏ وَهُوَ قَوْلُ الشَّافِعِيِّ وَإِسْحَاقَ ‏.‏ وَإِذَا رَأَى احْتِلاَمًا وَلَمْ يَرَ بِلَّةً فَلاَ غُسْلَ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ عَامَّةِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ
    Aishah narrated: "The Prophet was asked about a man who finds wetness and he does not remember having a wet dream. So he said: 'He is to perform Ghusl. And (he was asked) about a man who had a wet dream but does not find any wetness, so he said: 'No Ghusl is required of him.' Umm Salamah said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Is the woman required to perform Ghusl if she sees that?' He replied: 'Yes. Indeed women are the partners of men.'"

    أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْحُوَيْرِثِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاس رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، قَالَ : كُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَخَلَ الْغَائِطَ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَأُتِيَ بِطَعَامٍ، فَقِيلَ : أَلَا تَتَوَضَّأُ؟، فَقَالَ :" أُصَلِّي فَأَتَوَضَّأُ؟ "
    Abu Nu`aym told us, Sufyan bin Uyaynah told us, on the authority of Amr bin Dinar, on the authority of Saeed bin Al-Huwayrith, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with him. About them, he said: We were with the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he went to the toilet, then came out and food was brought, and it was said: Will you not perform ablution? He said: “Pray.” "Should I perform ablution?"

    أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي الأَشْعَثُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، – رضى الله عنها – وَذَكَرَتْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يُحِبُّ التَّيَامُنَ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ فِي طُهُورِهِ وَنَعْلِهِ وَتَرَجُّلِهِ ‏.‏ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُ الأَشْعَثَ بِوَاسِطٍ يَقُولُ يُحِبُّ التَّيَامُنَ فَذَكَرَ شَأْنَهُ كُلَّهُ ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُهُ بِالْكُوفَةِ يَقُولُ يُحِبُّ التَّيَامُنَ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ ‏.‏
    It was narrated that 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) mentioned: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to like to start with the right whenever he could, when purifying himself and when putting on shoes or combing his hair." (One of the narrators) Shu'bah said: Then I heard Al-Ash'ath in Wasit, saying that he liked to start with the right, and he preferred that in all his affaris. Then I heard him in Al-Kufah saying that he liked to start with the right whenever he could."

    أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" إِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنْ نَوْمِهِ، فَلَا يَغْمِسْ يَدَهُ فِي الْوَضُوءِ حَتَّى يَغْسِلَهَا ثَلَاثًا "
    Abu Nu`aym told us, Ibn Uyaynah told us, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Abu Salamah, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, he said: The Messenger of God said: May God’s prayers and peace be upon him: “When one of you wakes up from his sleep, he should not immerse his hand in ablution until he has washed it three times.”

    حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الْجَحَّافِ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ إِنَّمَا الْمَاءُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ فِي الاِحْتِلاَمِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى سَمِعْتُ الْجَارُودَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ وَكِيعًا يَقُولُ لَمْ نَجِدْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ إِلاَّ عِنْدَ شَرِيكٍ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَأَبُو الْجَحَّافِ اسْمُهُ دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَوْفٍ ‏.‏ وَيُرْوَى عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْجَحَّافِ وَكَانَ مَرْضِيًّا ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ وَعَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَالزُّبَيْرِ وَطَلْحَةَ وَأَبِي أَيُّوبَ وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏
    "‏ الْمَاءُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
    Ibn 'Abbas said: "Water is for water' is only about the wet dream."
