  • Sunan an-Nasa’i – سنن النسائي – Hadith #61

    أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏
    "‏ اللَّهُمَّ اغْسِلْ خَطَايَاىَ بِمَاءِ الثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ وَنَقِّ قَلْبِي مِنَ الْخَطَايَا كَمَا نَقَّيْتَ الثَّوْبَ الأَبْيَضَ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
    It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say: 'Allahumaghsil khatayaya bi-ma'ith-thalj wal-barad was naqqi qalbi min al-khataya kama naqayta ath-thawb al-abyad min ad-danas (O Allah, was away my sins with the water of snow and hail, and cleanse my heart of sin as a white garment is cleansed of filth.'"

  • Sunan al-Darimi – سنن الدارمي – Hadith #61

    أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عُتَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُخَيْمِرَةَ ، عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ : جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيَهُنَّ لِلْمُسَافِرِ، وَيَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً لِلْمُقِيمِ "، يَعْنِي : الْمَسْحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ
    Muhammad ibn Yusuf informed us, Sufyan informed us, on the authority of Amr ibn Qays, on the authority of Al-Hakam ibn Utaiba, on the authority of Al-Qasim ibn Mukhaymarah, on the authority of Shurayh Ibn Hani, on the authority of Ali Ibn Abi Talib, may God be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, appointed three days and their nights for the traveler. And a day and a night for the resident,” meaning: wiping over the socks.

    حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَتَوَضَّأُ لِكُلِّ صَلاَةٍ فَلَمَّا كَانَ عَامُ الْفَتْحِ صَلَّى الصَّلَوَاتِ كُلَّهَا بِوُضُوءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ إِنَّكَ فَعَلْتَ شَيْئًا لَمْ تَكُنْ فَعَلْتَهُ ‏.‏ قَالَ ‏"‏ عَمْدًا فَعَلْتُهُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏ وَرَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ قَادِمٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ وَزَادَ فِيهِ ‏"‏ تَوَضَّأَ مَرَّةً مَرَّةً ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ وَرَوَى سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ أَيْضًا عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ لِكُلِّ صَلاَةٍ ‏.‏ وَرَوَاهُ وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ ‏.‏ قَالَ وَرَوَاهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ وَغَيْرُهُ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مُرْسَلاً وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ وَكِيعٍ ‏.‏ وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ أَنَّهُ يُصَلِّي الصَّلَوَاتِ بِوُضُوءٍ وَاحِدٍ مَا لَمْ يُحْدِثْ وَكَانَ بَعْضُهُمْ يَتَوَضَّأُ لِكُلِّ صَلاَةٍ اسْتِحْبَابًا وَإِرَادَةَ الْفَضْلِ ‏.‏ وَيُرْوَى عَنِ الإِفْرِيقِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي غُطَيْفٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ عَلَى طُهْرٍ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِهِ عَشْرَ حَسَنَاتٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَهَذَا إِسْنَادٌ ضَعِيفٌ ‏.‏ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ بِوُضُوءٍ وَاحِدٍ ‏.‏
    Sulaiman bin Buraidah narrated that his father said: "The Prophet would perform Wudu for every Salat. So during the year of the Conquest, he performed all of the prayers with one Wudu, and he wiped over his Khuff. So Umar said, 'You did something that you have not done before?' He replied: "I did it on purpose."

    أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا اسْتَفْتَحَ الصَّلاَةَ سَكَتَ هُنَيْهَةً فَقُلْتُ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا تَقُولُ فِي سُكُوتِكَ بَيْنَ التَّكْبِيرِ وَالْقِرَاءَةِ قَالَ ‏
    "‏ أَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ بَاعِدْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ خَطَايَاىَ كَمَا بَاعَدْتَ بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ اللَّهُمَّ نَقِّنِي مِنْ خَطَايَاىَ كَمَا يُنَقَّى الثَّوْبُ الأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ اللَّهُمَّ اغْسِلْنِي مِنْ خَطَايَاىَ بِالثَّلْجِ وَالْمَاءِ وَالْبَرَدِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
    It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) started Salah, he would remain silent for a short while. I said: 'May my father and mother be ransomed for you, O Messenger of Allah! What do you say when you remain silent between the Takbir and the recitation (in the Salah)?' He said: 'I say: Allahumma ba'id baini was baina khatayaya kama ba'adta baina al-mashriq wal-maghrib; Allahumma naqqini min khatayaya kama yunaqqath-thawb al-abyad min ad-danas; Allahummaghsilni min khatayaya bith-thalji wal-ma'i wal-barad (O Allah, out a great distance between me and my sins, as great as the distance You have made between the East and the West; O Allah, cleanse me of of sin as a white garment is cleansed from filth; Wash away my sins with snow, water, and hail)'."

    أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا هُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فِي سَفَرٍ، فَقَالَ :" أَمَعَكَ مَاءٌ؟ "، فَقُلْتُ : نَعَمْ، " فَنَزَلَ عَنْ رَاحِلَتِهِ، فَمَشَى حَتَّى تَوَارَى عَنِّي فِي سَوَادِ اللَّيْلِ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَأَفْرَغْتُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ الْإِدَاوَةِ، فَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ وَوَجْهَهُ، وَعَلَيْهِ جُبَّةٌ مِنْ صُوفٍ، فَلَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أَنْ يُخْرِجَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ مِنْهَا حَتَّى أَخْرَجَهُمَا مِنْ أَسْفَلِ الْجُبَّةِ، فَغَسَلَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ، وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ، ثُمَّ أَهْوَيْتُ لِأَنْزِعَ خُفَّيْهِ، فَقَالَ : دَعْهُمَا، فَإِنِّي أَدْخَلْتُهُمَا طَاهِرَتَيْنِ، فَمَسَحَ عَلَيْهِمَا "
    Abu Nu`aym told us, Zakaria told us, he is the son of Abi Zaida, on the authority of Amir, on the authority of Urwa ibn al-Mughirah, on the authority of his father, may God be pleased with him. On his authority, he said: I was with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, one night on a journey, and he said: “Do you have water?” So I said: Yes. On his mount, he walked until he disappeared from me in the dark of the night, then he came and I finished the medication on him, so he washed his hands and face, and he was wearing a robe. Of wool, he was not able to remove his arms from it until he took them out from under the robe, so he washed his arms, wiped his head, then I was about to take off his socks, and he said: Leave them, for I brought them in pure, so he wiped over them.

    حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، هُوَ ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَامِرٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَتَوَضَّأُ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ ‏.‏ قُلْتُ فَأَنْتُمْ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَصْنَعُونَ قَالَ كُنَّا نُصَلِّي الصَّلَوَاتِ كُلَّهَا بِوُضُوءٍ وَاحِدٍ مَا لَمْ نُحْدِثْ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏
    Amr bin Amir Al-Ansari narrated that he heard Anas bin Malik saying: "The Prophet would perform Wudu for every Salat." I said, "So what about you, what would you do?" He said I wouId pray all of the prayers with one Wudu, as long as we had not committed Hadath (anything that invalidates Wudu)."

    أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ، سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا نَرْكَبُ الْبَحْرَ وَنَحْمِلُ مَعَنَا الْقَلِيلَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَإِنْ تَوَضَّأْنَا بِهِ عَطِشْنَا أَفَنَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ مَاءِ الْبَحْرِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏
    "‏ هُوَ الطَّهُورُ مَاؤُهُ الْحِلُّ مَيْتَتُهُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
    Abu Hurairah said: "A man asked the Prophet (ﷺ): 'O Messenger of Allah, we travel by sea and we take a little water with us, but if we use it for Wudu', we will go thirsty. Can we perform Wudu', with sea-water?' The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Its water is a means of purification and its dead meat is permissible.'"

    أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ مَيْمُونَةَ خَالَتِي عَنْ غُسْلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ الْجَنَابَةِ، فَقَالَتْ : كَانَ" يُؤْتَى بِالْإِنَاءِ فَيُفْرِغُ بِيَمِينِهِ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ، فَيَغْسِلُ فَرْجَهُ وَمَا أَصَابَهُ، ثُمَّ يَتَوَضَّأُ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ، ثُمَّ يَغْسِلُ رَأْسَهُ وَسَائِرَ جَسَدِهِ، ثُمَّ يَتَحَوَّلُ فَيَغْسِلُ رِجْلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ يُؤْتَى بِالْمِنْدِيلِ فَيَضَعُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَيَنْفُضُ أَصَابِعَهُ وَلَا يَمَسُّهُ "
    Ubayd Allah ibn Musa informed us, on the authority of Ibn Abi Laila, on the authority of Salamah ibn Kuhail, on the authority of Kurayb, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them both, he said: I asked my aunt Maimuna about the Prophet’s ritual ablution, may God bless him and grant him peace, from ritual impurity. She said: “A vessel would be brought and emptied with his right hand.” to his left, then he washes his private parts and whatever is on it, then he performs his ablution for prayer, then he washes his head and the rest of his body, then he turns Then he washes his feet, then the handkerchief is brought and he places it between his hands and wipes his fingers without touching it.”

    وَقَدْ رُوِيَ فِي، حَدِيثٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏
    "‏ مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ عَلَى طُهْرٍ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِهِ عَشْرَ حَسَنَاتٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ وَرَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ الإِفْرِيقِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي غُطَيْفٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏.‏ حَدَّثَنَا بِذَلِكَ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ عَنِ الإِفْرِيقِيِّ ‏.‏ وَهُوَ إِسْنَادٌ ضَعِيفٌ ‏.‏ قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ ذُكِرَ لِهِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ فَقَالَ هَذَا إِسْنَادٌ مَشْرِقِيٌّ ‏.‏ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَحْمَدَ بْنَ الْحَسَنِ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ أَحْمَدَ بْنَ حَنْبَلٍ يَقُولُ مَا رَأَيْتُ بِعَيْنِي مِثْلَ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانِ ‏.‏
    It has been related in a narration from Ibn Umar that : the Prophet said: "Whoever performs Wudu while in a state of purity, Allah writes for him on account of it ten good merits."

  • Sunan an-Nasa’i – سنن النسائي – Hadith #58

    أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَتِيقٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏
    "‏ لاَ يَبُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الْمَاءِ الدَّائِمِ ثُمَّ يَغْتَسِلُ مِنْهُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ كَانَ يَعْقُوبُ لاَ يُحَدِّثُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ إِلاَّ بِدِينَارٍ ‏.‏
    It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'None of you should urinate in still water and perform Ghusl with it.'"
    Abu 'Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasa'i) said: "ya'qub would not narrate this Hadith except for a Dinar."

    Ya'qub bin Ibrahim Ad-Dawrqi, and the meaning is that he held the view that it is permissible to accept a payment for narrating, contrary to many others.
