  • Jami’ al-Tirmidhi – جامع الترمذي – Hadith #55

    حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ الثَّعْلَبِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ حُبَابٍ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الدِّمَشْقِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلاَنِيِّ، وَأَبِي، عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏
    "‏ مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ فَأَحْسَنَ الْوُضُوءَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي مِنَ التَّوَّابِينَ وَاجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ فُتِحَتْ لَهُ ثَمَانِيَةُ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ يَدْخُلُ مِنْ أَيِّهَا شَاءَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَنَسٍ وَعُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ عُمَرَ قَدْ خُولِفَ زَيْدُ بْنُ حُبَابٍ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ‏.‏ قَالَ وَرَوَى عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ وَغَيْرُهُ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ ‏.‏ وَعَنْ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ ‏.‏ وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ فِي إِسْنَادِهِ اضْطِرَابٌ وَلاَ يَصِحُّ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي هَذَا الْبَابِ كَبِيرُ شَيْءٍ ‏.‏ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ وَأَبُو إِدْرِيسَ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ عُمَرَ شَيْئًا ‏.‏
    Umar bin Al-Khattab narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: 'Whoever performs Wudu, making Wudu well, then says: (Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah, wahdahu la sharika lahu, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan-abduhu wa rasuluhu, Allahummajalni minat tawwabin, waj'alni minal mutatahhirin) 'I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah Alone, there are no partners for Him. And I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. O Allah! Make me among the repentant, and make me among those who purify themselves.' Then eight gates of Paradise are opened for him, that may enter by whichever of them wishes."

    أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبِيدَةُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ بَالَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِدَلْوٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فَصُبَّ عَلَيْهِ ‏.‏
    It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "A Bedouin urinated in the Masjid, and the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered that a bucket (be brought) and poured over it."

  • Sunan al-Darimi – سنن الدارمي – Hadith #54

    أَخْبَرَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ : كَانَ يَمُرُّ بِنَا وَالنَّاسُ يَتَوَضَّئُونَ مِنْ الْمِطْهَرَةِ، وَيَقُولُ :" أَسْبِغُوا الْوُضُوءَ "، قَالَ : أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ K : " وَيْلٌ لِلْأَعْقَابِ مِنْ النَّارِ "، قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد : هَذَا أَعْجَبُ إِلَيَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو
    Hashim bin Al-Qasim told us, Shu’bah told us, on the authority of Muhammad bin Ziyad, he said: I heard Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, he said: He was passing Us while the people were performing ablution from the purified water, and He said: “Perform ablution thoroughly.” Abu al-Qasim K said: “Woe to the heels of the Fire.” Abu al-Qasim said: Muhammad: This is more surprising to me than the hadith of Abdullah bin Amr.

    حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زِيَادِ بْنِ أَنْعُمٍ، عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ نُسَىٍّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ مَسَحَ وَجْهَهُ بِطَرَفِ ثَوْبِهِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ وَإِسْنَادُهُ ضَعِيفٌ ‏.‏ وَرِشْدِينُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زِيَادِ بْنِ أَنْعُمٍ الإِفْرِيقِيُّ يُضَعَّفَانِ فِي الْحَدِيثِ ‏.‏ وَقَدْ رَخَّصَ قَوْمٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَمَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ فِي التَّمَنْدُلِ بَعْدَ الْوُضُوءِ وَمَنْ كَرِهَهُ إِنَّمَا كَرِهَهُ مِنْ قِبَلِ أَنَّهُ قِيلَ إِنَّ الْوَضُوءَ يُوزَنُ ‏.‏ وَرُوِيَ ذَلِكَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ وَالزُّهْرِيِّ ‏.‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ الرَّازِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِيهِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِّي وَهُوَ عِنْدِي ثِقَةٌ عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ إِنَّمَا كُرِهَ الْمِنْدِيلُ بَعْدَ الْوُضُوءِ لأَنَّ الْوَضُوءَ يُوزَنُ ‏.‏
    Muadh bin Jabal narrated: "I saw the Prophet when he performed Wudu, he wiped his face with the edge of his garment." Abu Eisa said: This Hadith is gharib, and its chain is weak. Rishdin bin Sa'd and Abdur- Rahman bin Ziyad bin An'um Al Ifriqi are weak in Hadith. Some people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet and those after them, permitted using a towel after Wudu.
    Those who disliked it, only disliked it from the view of the saying: "Wudu is weighed." That as reported from Sa'eed bin Al- Musayyab and Az-Zuhri. Muhammad bin Humaid narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, he said: Ali bin Mujahid narrated to me, and he is trustworthy to me, from me, from: Tha'labah from Az-Zuhri, he said: "The towel is only disliked after Wudu because Wudu is weighed."

    أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا، بَالَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏
    "‏ دَعُوهُ لاَ تُزْرِمُوهُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ دَعَا بِدَلْوٍ فَصَبَّهُ عَلَيْهِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ يَعْنِي لاَ تَقْطَعُوا عَلَيْهِ ‏.‏
    It was narrated from Anas that a Bedouin urinated in the Masjid, and some of the people went after him, but the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Leave him and do not restrain him." When he had finished he called for a bucket (of water) and poured it over it.

    Abu 'Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasa'i) said: "Meaning: 'Do not interrupt him.'"

    The author will cite this narration again in No. 330 as a possible proof for setting the minimum, since it mentions "a bucket" as if this is the minium amount required.

    أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرٌ هُوَ ابْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" وَيْلٌ لِلْأَعْقَابِ مِنْ النَّارِ، أَسْبِغُوا الْوُضُوءَ "
    Yazid bin Harun told us, Ja`far told us, he is Ibn Al-Harith, on the authority of Mansour, on the authority of Hilal bin Yasaf, on the authority of Abu Yahya, on the authority of Abdullah bin Amr, may God be pleased with him, said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Woe to the heels of the Fire. Perform ablution well.”

    حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعِ بْنِ الْجَرَّاحِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ حُبَابٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مُعَاذٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ كَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم خِرْقَةٌ يُنَشِّفُ بِهَا بَعْدَ الْوُضُوءِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ عَائِشَةَ لَيْسَ بِالْقَائِمِ وَلاَ يَصِحُّ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي هَذَا الْبَابِ شَيْءٌ ‏.‏ وَأَبُو مُعَاذٍ يَقُولُونَ هُوَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ أَرْقَمَ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْحَدِيثِ ‏.‏ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ ‏.‏
    Aishah narrated: "Allah's Messenger had a cloth that he would use to dry off with after Wudu."

    أَخْبَرَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ، وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنِ الْمَاءِ وَمَا يَنُوبُهُ مِنَ الدَّوَابِّ وَالسِّبَاعِ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ ‏
    "‏ إِذَا كَانَ الْمَاءُ قُلَّتَيْنِ لَمْ يَحْمِلِ الْخَبَثَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
    It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Abdullah bin 'Umar that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked about water and how some animals and carnivorous beasts might drink from it. He said: 'If the water is more than two Qullahs, it will not carry filth.'"

    It comes with some explanation in Sunan At Timidhi 'Abdah (one of the narrators) said: "Muhammad bin Ishaq said: 'A Qullah refers to Jirar (These are two nouns describing large casks that are used to hold water), and a Qullah is the thing that drinking water is held in."' At-Tirmidhi said: "This is the saying of Ash Shafa'i, Ahmad and Ishaq. They say that when the water is two Qullahs then nothing makes it impure, as long as it does not change its smell, and its taste. And they say, it is approximately fifty Qirbahs (waterskins)."

    أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ لَقِيطِ بْنِ صَبِرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَافِدِ بَنِي الْمُنْتَفِقِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ :" إِذَا تَوَضَّأْتَ، فَأَسْبِغْ وُضُوءَكَ، وَخَلِّلْ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِكَ "
    Abu Asim told us, Ibn Jurayj told us, Ismail bin Kathir told me, on the authority of Asim bin Laqit bin Sabra, on the authority of his father Wafd Banu al-Muntafiq, may God be pleased with him, on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, who said: “When you perform ablution, perform your ablution thoroughly and spread it between your fingers.”

    وَحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنِ الْعَلاَءِ، نَحْوَهُ ‏.‏ وَقَالَ قُتَيْبَةُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ ‏
    "‏ فَذَلِكُمُ الرِّبَاطُ فَذَلِكُمُ الرِّبَاطُ فَذَلِكُمُ الرِّبَاطُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ ثَلاَثًا ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَعَبِيدَةَ وَيُقَالُ عُبَيْدَةُ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَعَائِشَةَ وَعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَائِشٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ وَأَنَسٍ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَحَدِيثُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ فِي هَذَا الْبَابِ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏ وَالْعَلاَءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هُوَ ابْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْجُهَنِيُّ الْحُرَقِيُّ وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْحَدِيثِ ‏.‏
    Qutaibah said in his narration: "For that is the Ribat, that is the Ribat, that is the Ribat" three times.
