  • Sunan al-Darimi – سنن الدارمي – Hadith #48

    حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْجَهْضَمِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ :" أُمِرْنَا بِإِسْبَاغِ الْوُضُوءِ "
    Musaddad narrated to us, Hammad bin Zaid narrated to us, on the authority of Abu Al-Jahdham, on the authority of Ubayd Allah bin Abdullah, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with him, on the authority of The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “We were commanded to perform ablution completely.”

    حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّةَ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا تَوَضَّأَ فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ حَتَّى أَنْقَاهُمَا ثُمَّ مَضْمَضَ ثَلاَثًا وَاسْتَنْشَقَ ثَلاَثًا وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلاَثًا وَذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلاَثًا وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ مَرَّةً ثُمَّ غَسَلَ قَدَمَيْهِ إِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَأَخَذَ فَضْلَ طَهُورِهِ فَشَرِبَهُ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أُرِيَكُمْ كَيْفَ كَانَ طُهُورُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَالرُّبَيِّعِ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُنَيْسٍ وَعَائِشَةَ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ ‏.‏
    Abu Hayyah narrated: "I saw Ali performing Wudu. He washed his hands until he cleaned them, then he rinsed out his mouth three times, sniffed water into his nose and blew it out three times, washed his face three times, and his forearms three times. He wiped his head once, then he washed his feet up to the ankles. Then he stood up, taking what was left over from his purification (water) and drank it while he was standing. Then he said, 'I wanted to show you how Allah's Messenger purified himself.'"

    أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏
    "‏ إِذَا شَرِبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلاَ يَتَنَفَّسْ فِي إِنَائِهِ وَإِذَا أَتَى الْخَلاَءَ فَلاَ يَمَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ وَلاَ يَتَمَسَّحْ بِيَمِينِهِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
    It was narrated from Abu Qatadah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When any one of you drinks, let him not breathe into the vessel, and when he goes to the toilet let him not touch his penis with his right hand, nor wipe himself with this right hand."

    حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ :" أَلَا أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى مَا يُكَفِّرُ اللَّهُ بِهِ الْخَطَايَا، وَيَزِيدُ بِهِ فِي الْحَسَنَاتِ؟ "، قَالُوا : بَلَى، قَالَ : " إِسْبَاغُ الْوُضُوءِ عَلَى الْمَكْرُوهَاتِ، وَكَثْرَةُ الْخُطَا إِلَى الْمَسَاجِدِ، وَانْتِظَارُ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ الصَّلَاةِ "، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ هُوَ ابْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَن أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَذَكَرَ بِنَحْوِهِ
    Zakaria bin Adi told us, Ubaid Allah bin Amr told us, on the authority of Ibn Aqeel, on the authority of Sa’id bin Al-Musayyab, on the authority of Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri, may God be pleased with him. God said, on his authority, on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him: that he heard him say: “Shall I not guide you to that by which God expiates sins and thereby increases good deeds? “They said: Yes. He said: “Performing ablution thoroughly for the disliked things, taking many steps to the mosques, and waiting for the prayer after the prayer.” Musa told us. Bin Masoud, Zuhayr bin Muhammad told us, on the authority of Abdullah, he is the son of Muhammad bin Aqeel, on the authority of Saeed bin Al-Musayyab, on the authority of Abu Saeed Al-Khudri, may God be pleased with him: He heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he mentioned something similar to it.

    حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم تَوَضَّأَ فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلاَثًا وَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏ وَقَدْ ذُكِرَ فِي غَيْرِ حَدِيثٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم تَوَضَّأَ بَعْضَ وُضُوئِهِ مَرَّةً وَبَعْضَهُ ثَلاَثًا ‏.‏ وَقَدْ رَخَّصَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ فِي ذَلِكَ لَمْ يَرَوْا بَأْسًا أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ الرَّجْلُ بَعْضَ وُضُوئِهِ ثَلاَثًا وَبَعْضَهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ مَرَّةً ‏.‏
    Abdullah bin Zaid narrated that: "The Prophet performed Wudu. So he washed his face three times, and washed his hands two times each, and wiped his head, and washed his feet ."

  • Sunan an-Nasa’i – سنن النسائي – Hadith #46

    أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ مُعَاذَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ مُرْنَ أَزْوَاجَكُنَّ أَنْ يَسْتَطِيبُوا بِالْمَاءِ فَإِنِّي أَسْتَحْيِيهِمْ مِنْهُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ ‏.‏
    It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "Tell your husbands to clean themselves with water, for I am too shy to tell them myself. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to do that."

    أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" تَوَضَّأَ مَرَّةً مَرَّةً، وَجَمَعَ بَيْنَ الْمَضْمَضَةِ وَالِاسْتِنْشَاقِ "
    Abu Al-Walid told us, Abd Al-Aziz bin Muhammad Al-Darawardi told us, Zayd bin Aslam told us, on the authority of Ata’ bin Yasar, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with him: The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, “performed ablution once in a while, and combined rinsing the mouth and nose.”

    قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَرَوَى وَكِيعٌ، هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ أَبِي صَفِيَّةَ، قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَكَ جَابِرٌ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم تَوَضَّأَ مَرَّةً مَرَّةً قَالَ نَعَمْ ‏.‏ حَدَّثَنَا بِذَلِكَ هَنَّادٌ وَقُتَيْبَةُ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ أَبِي صَفِيَّةَ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ شَرِيكٍ لأَنَّهُ قَدْ رُوِيَ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ هَذَا عَنْ ثَابِتٍ نَحْوَ رِوَايَةِ وَكِيعٍ ‏.‏ وَشَرِيكٌ كَثِيرُ الْغَلَطِ وَثَابِتُ بْنُ أَبِي صَفِيَّةَ هُوَ أَبُو حَمْزَةَ الثُّمَالِيُّ ‏.‏
    Thabit bin Abi Safiyyah said, : "1 asked Abu Ja'far: 'Did Jabir narrate to you that: "The Prophet performed Wudu one time each?" He said: "Yes."

  • Sunan an-Nasa’i – سنن النسائي – Hadith #45

    أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا النَّضْرُ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلاَءَ أَحْمِلُ أَنَا وَغُلاَمٌ مَعِي نَحْوِي إِدَاوَةً مِنْ مَاءٍ فَيَسْتَنْجِي بِالْمَاءِ ‏.‏
    Anas bin Malik said: "When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would go to the toilet, I and another boy like me would bring a small leather vessel of water and he would clean himself with water."

    أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ :" أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ أَوْ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِوُضُوءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ فَتَوَضَّأَ مَرَّةً مَرَّةً، أَوْ قَالَ : مَرَّةً مَرَّةً "
    Abu Asim told us, Sufyan Al-Thawri told us, Zayd bin Aslam told us, on the authority of Ata’ bin Yassar, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with him, He said: “Shall I not inform you or inform you of the ablution of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace? So he performed ablution once, or he said: Once, once.”
