Sunan al-Darimi – سنن الدارمي – Hadith #2941

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ ، قَالَ :" كَانَ عَامِرٌ إِذَا سُئِلَ عَنْ شَيْءٍ، يَقُولُ : لَا أَدْرِي، فَإِنْ رُدُّوا عَلَيْهِ، قَالَ : إِنْ شِئْتَ كُنْتُ حَلَفْتُ لَكَ بِاللَّهِ إِنْ كَانَ لِي بِهِ عِلْمٌ "
Muhammad bin Humaid told us, Jarir told us, on the authority of Mughirah, he said: “When Amer was asked about something, he would say: I do not know, and if they answered him, He said: If you wish, I could swear to you by God if I had knowledge of it.
