أَخْبَرَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ هَجَرَ، قَالَ : قَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" تَعَلَّمُوا الْعِلْمَ وَعَلِّمُوهُ النَّاسَ، تَعَلَّمُوا الْفَرَائِضَ وَعَلِّمُوهُ النَّاسَ، تَعَلَّمُوا الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلِّمُوهُ النَّاسَ، فَإِنِّي امْرُؤٌ مَقْبُوضٌ، وَالْعِلْمُ سَيُنْقَصُ وَتَظْهَرُ الْفِتَنُ حَتَّى يَخْتَلِفَ اثْنَانِ فِي فَرِيضَةٍ لَا يَجِدَانِ أَحَدًا يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَهُمَا "

Othman bin Al-Haytham told us, Awf told us, on the authority of a man called Suleiman bin Jabir from the people of Hijr, he said: Ibn Masoud said, The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to me: “Learn knowledge and teach it to the people. Learn the religious duties and teach it to the people. Learn the Qur’an and teach it to the people. A man will be arrested, and knowledge will diminish and temptations will appear until two people disagree over an obligation and they will not find anyone to separate them.”
