أَخْبَرَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا تَوْبَةُ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي الشَّعْبِيُّ :" أَرَأَيْتَ فُلَانًا الَّذِي يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ؟ قَعَدْتُ مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ سَنَتَيْنِ، أَوْ سَنَةً وَنِصْفًا، فَمَا سَمِعْتُهُ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا، إِلَّا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ "

Sahl bin Hammad told us, Shu’bah told us, Tawbah Al-Anbari told us, he said: Al-Shu’bi said to me: “Did you see so-and-so who says: He said Messenger of God, said the Messenger of God? I sat with Ibn Umar for two years, or a year and a half, and what did I hear him say about the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace? Nothing, except this hadith.”
