أَخْبَرَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَيَانٌ ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ قَرَظَةَ بْنِ كَعْبٍ : أَنَّ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، شَيَّعَ الْأَنْصَارَ حِينَ خَرَجُوا مِنْ الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَقَالَ :" أَتَدْرُونَ لِمَ شَيَّعْتُكُمْ؟ قُلْنَا : لِحَقِّ الْأَنْصَارِ، قَالَ : إِنَّكُمْ تَأْتُونَ قَوْمًا تَهْتَزُّ أَلْسِنَتُهُمْ بِالْقُرْآنِ اهْتِزَازَ النَّخْلِ، فَلَا تَصُدُّوهُمْ بِالْحَدِيثِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَنَا شَرِيكُكُمْ "، قَالَ : فَمَا حَدَّثْتُ بِشَيْءٍ، وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ كَمَا سَمِعَ أَصْحَابِي

Sahl bin Hammad told us, Shu’bah told us, Bayan told us, on the authority of Al-Shu’bi, on the authority of Qarada bin Ka’b: that Omar, may God be pleased with him, had passed away. The Ansar when they left Medina. He said: “Do you know why I made you Shiites?” We said: To the truth of the Ansar. He said: You are coming to a people shaken. Their tongues speak of the Qur’an like the shaking of palm trees, so do not deter them by narrating on the authority of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and I am your partner.” He said: So what I told you something, and I heard what my friends heard.
