Sunan al-Darimi – سنن الدارمي – Hadith #3079

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ الشَّعْبِيُّ ، وَالنَّخَعِيُّ ، وَالْحَسَنُ يُحَدِّثُونَ بِالْحَدِيثِ مَرَّةً هَكَذَا، وَمَرَّةً هَكَذَا، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، فَقَالَ :" أَمَا إِنَّهُمْ لَوْ حَدَّثُوا بِهِ كَمَا سَمِعُوهُ، كَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُمْ "
Abdullah bin Saeed told us, Ibn Ulayya told us, on the authority of Ibn Aoun, he said: Al-Sha’bi, Al-Nakha’i, and Al-Hasan used to narrate By narrating the hadith once like this, and once like that, so I mentioned that to Muhammad ibn Sirin, and he said: “If they had narrated it as they heard it, it would have been “It is better for them.”
