أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ بُرْدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، قَالَ :" مَنْ طَلَبَ الْعِلْمَ لِيُمَارِيَ بِهِ السُّفَهَاءَ، وَلِيُبَاهِيَ بِهِ الْعُلَمَاءَ، أَوْ لِيَصْرِفَ بِهِ وُجُوهَ النَّاسِ إِلَيْهِ، فَهُوَ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ "

Muhammad ibn Yusuf informed us, on the authority of Sufyan, on the authority of Burd ibn Sinan Abi Al-Ala, on the authority of Makhoul, who said: “Whoever seeks knowledge in order to practice it… foolish people, and for the scholars to boast of it, or to turn people’s faces away from it, then he will be in the fire of hell.”
