أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ نُعْمَانَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ L1739 ، أَنَّ عَبِيدَةَ دَعَا بِكُتُبِهِ فَمَحَاهَا عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ، وَقَالَ :" إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يَلِيَهَا قَوْمٌ، فَلَا يَضَعُونَهَا مَوَاضِعَهَا "

Muhammad bin Yusuf and Ubayd Allah told us, on the authority of Sufyan, on the authority of Numan bin Qais, L1739, that Ubaidah called for his books and erased them at Death, and he said: “I fear that a people will follow it and will not place it in its proper place.”
