أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِعَبِيدَةَ :" أَكْتُبُ مَا أَسْمَعُ مِنْكَ، قَالَ : لَا، قُلْتُ : فَإِنْ وَجَدْتُ كِتَابًا أَقْرَؤُهُ؟، قَالَ : لَا "

Abu Al-Numan told us, Hammad bin Zaid told us, on the authority of Ibn Aoun, on the authority of Muhammad, who said: I said to Ubaidah: “I will write what I hear from you,” he said. “No,” I said, “So if I find a book to read?” He said, “No.”
