أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ بِسْطَامِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ إِذَا مَشَى مَعَهُ الرَّجُلُ قَامَ، فَقَالَ :" أَلَكَ حَاجَةٌ؟ فَإِنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ حَاجَةٌ، قَضَاهَا، وَإِنْ عَادَ يَمْشِي مَعَهُ قَامَ، فَقَالَ : أَلَكَ حَاجَةٌ؟ "
Saeed bin Amer told us, on the authority of Bustam bin Muslim, who said: Whenever a man walked with him, Muhammad bin Sirin would stand up and say: “Do you need something?” If he had a need, he would fulfill it, and if he returned to walk with him, he would stand up and say: Do you have a need?
