Sunan al-Darimi – سنن الدارمي – Hadith #3347

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، قَالَ :" السُّنَّةُ سُنَّتَانِ : سُنَّةٌ الْأَخْذُ بِهَا فَرِيضَةٌ، وَتَرْكُهَا كُفْرٌ، وَسُنَّةٌ الْأَخْذُ بِهَا فَضِيلَةٌ، وَتَرْكُهَا إِلَى غَيْرِ حَرَجٍ "
Muhammad ibn Kathir told us, on the authority of Al-Awza’i, on the authority of Makhoul, who said: “The Sunnah is two Sunnahs: the Sunnah is to adopt it as an obligation, and to abandon it is blasphemy. It is a good practice to follow it and leave it without embarrassment.”
