Al-Aswad bin Yazid

    حَدَّثَنِي مَحْمُودٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، شَيْبَانُ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ أَتَانَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ بِالْيَمَنِ مُعَلِّمًا وَأَمِيرًا، فَسَأَلْنَاهُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ، تُوُفِّيَ وَتَرَكَ ابْنَتَهُ وَأُخْتَهُ، فَأَعْطَى الاِبْنَةَ النِّصْفَ وَالأُخْتَ النِّصْفَ‏.‏

    Narrated Al-Aswad bin Yazid:

    Mu`adh bin Jabal came to us in Yemen as a tutor and a ruler, and we (the people of Yemen) asked him about (the distribution of the property of ) a man who had died leaving a daughter and a sister. Mu`adh gave the daughter one-half of the property and gave the sister the other half.

    حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَرْعَرَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عُتَيْبَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ مَا كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَصْنَعُ فِي الْبَيْتِ قَالَتْ كَانَ فِي مِهْنَةِ أَهْلِهِ، فَإِذَا سَمِعَ الأَذَانَ خَرَجَ‏.‏

    Narrated Al-Aswad bin Yazid:

    I asked `Aisha “What did the Prophet (ﷺ) use to do at home?” She said, “He used to work for his family, and when he heard the Adhan (call for the prayer), he would go out.”

    حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ، قَالَ لَهُ حَدِّثْنِي بِمَا، كَانَتْ تُفْضِي إِلَيْكَ أُمُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَعْنِي عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ لَهَا ‏
    "‏ لَوْلاَ أَنَّ قَوْمَكِ حَدِيثُو عَهْدٍ بِالْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَهَدَمْتُ الْكَعْبَةَ وَجَعَلْتُ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ فَلَمَّا مَلَكَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ هَدَمَهَا وَجَعَلَ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏
    Al-Aswad bin Yazid narrated that: Ibn Az-Zubair said to him: "Narrated to me from what the Mother of the Believers used to (secretly) inform you about" – meaning Aishah – so he said: "She narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Had your people not been still close to the pre-Islamic period of ignorance, then I would demolish the Ka'bah and rebuild it with two doors.'" He said: "So when Ibn Az-Zubair came to power he demolished it and rebuilt it with two doors."
