  • Sunan Abu Dawud – Hadith #3627

    حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ لَهُ يَعْنِي لاِبْنِ صُورِيَا ‏ “‏ أُذَكِّرُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ الَّذِي نَجَّاكُمْ مِنْ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَأَقْطَعَكُمُ الْبَحْرَ وَظَلَّلَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْغَمَامَ وَأَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْوَى وَأَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكُمُ التَّوْرَاةَ عَلَى مُوسَى أَتَجِدُونَ فِي كِتَابِكُمُ الرَّجْمَ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ ذَكَّرْتَنِي بِعَظِيمٍ وَلاَ يَسَعُنِي أَنْ أَكْذِبَكَ ‏.‏ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ ‏.‏

    Narrated Ikrimah: The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said to Ibn Suriya’: I remind you by Allah Who saved you from the people of Pharaoh, made you cover the sea, gave you the shade of clouds, sent down to you manna and quails, sent down you Torah to Moses, do you find stoning (for adultery) in your Book? He said: You have reminded me by the Great. It is not possible for me to belie you. He then transmitted the rest of the tradition.

  • Sunan Abu Dawud – Hadith #3299

    حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، أَنَّ أُخْتَ، عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ بِمَعْنَى هِشَامٍ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ الْهَدْىَ وَقَالَ فِيهِ ‏:‏ ‏ “‏ مُرْ أُخْتَكَ فَلْتَرْكَبْ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ ‏:‏ رَوَاهُ خَالِدٌ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بِمَعْنَى هِشَامٍ ‏.‏

    Narrated ‘Ikrimah: The tradition about the sister of ‘Uqbah b. ‘Amir as narrated by Hisham, but he made no mention of the sacrificial animal. In his version he said: Ask your sister to ride. Abu Dawud said: Khalid narrated it from ‘Ikrimah to the same effect as narrated by Hisham.

  • Sunan Abu Dawud – Hadith #3287

    حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ بِشْرٍ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، يَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ ‏:‏ ‏”‏ وَاللَّهِ لأَغْزُوَنَّ قُرَيْشًا ‏”‏ ‏.‏ ثُمَّ قَالَ ‏:‏ ‏”‏ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ ثُمَّ قَالَ ‏:‏ ‏”‏ وَاللَّهِ لأَغْزُوَنَّ قُرَيْشًا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ ثُمَّ قَالَ ‏:‏ ‏”‏ وَاللَّهِ لأَغْزُوَنَّ قُرَيْشًا ‏”‏ ‏.‏ ثُمَّ سَكَتَ ثُمَّ قَالَ ‏:‏ ‏”‏ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ ‏:‏ زَادَ فِيهِ الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ شَرِيكٍ قَالَ ‏:‏ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَغْزُهُمْ ‏.‏

    Narrated ‘Ikrimah: The Prophet (ﷺ) as saying: I swear by Allah, I shall fight against the Quraish. The then said: If Allah wills. He again said: I swear by Allah, I shall fight against the Quraish if Allah wills. He again said: I swear by Allah, I shall fight against the Quraish. He then kept silence. Then he said: If Allah wills. Abu Dawud said: Al-Walid b. Muslim said on the authority of Sharik: He then said: But he did not fight against them.

  • Sunan Abu Dawud – Hadith #2342

    حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، أَنَّهُمْ شَكُّوا فِي هِلاَلِ رَمَضَانَ مَرَّةً فَأَرَادُوا أَنْ لاَ يَقُومُوا وَلاَ يَصُومُوا فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ مِنَ الْحَرَّةِ فَشَهِدَ أَنَّهُ رَأَى الْهِلاَلَ فَأُتِيَ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ ‏ “‏ أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ نَعَمْ ‏.‏ وَشَهِدَ أَنَّهُ رَأَى الْهِلاَلَ فَأَمَرَ بِلاَلاً فَنَادَى فِي النَّاسِ أَنْ يَقُومُوا وَأَنْ يَصُومُوا ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ رَوَاهُ جَمَاعَةٌ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ مُرْسَلاً وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ الْقِيَامَ أَحَدٌ إِلاَّ حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ‏.‏

    Narrated Ikrimah: Once the people doubted the appearance of the moon of Ramadan, and intended neither to offer the tarawih prayer nor to keep fast. A bedouin came from al-Harrah and testified that he had sighted the moon. He was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ). He asked: Do you testify that there is no god but Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah? He said: Yes; and he testified that he had sighted the moon. He commanded Bilal who announced to the people to offer the tarawih prayer and to keep fast.

  • Sunan Abu Dawud – Hadith #2222

    حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الطَّالْقَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً، ظَاهَرَ مِنَ امْرَأَتِهِ ثُمَّ وَاقَعَهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَقَالَ ‏”‏ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ بَيَاضَ سَاقَيْهَا فِي الْقَمَرِ ‏.‏ قَالَ ‏”‏ فَاعْتَزِلْهَا حَتَّى تُكَفِّرَ عَنْكَ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

    Narrated Ikrimah: A man made his wife like the back of his mother. He then had intercourse with her before he atoned for it. He came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and informed him of this matter. He asked (him): What moved you to the action you have committed? He replied: I saw the whiteness of her shins in moon light. He said: Keep away from her until you expiate for your deed.

  • Jami’ al-Tirmidhi – جامع الترمذي – Hadith #3988

    حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّاسٌ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ أَبُو غَسَّانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَكَانَ ثِقَةً عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَبَانَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، قَالَ قِيلَ لاِبْنِ عَبَّاسٍ بَعْدَ صَلاَةِ الصُّبْحِ مَاتَتْ فُلاَنَةُ لِبَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَسَجَدَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ أَتَسْجُدُ هَذِهِ السَّاعَةَ فَقَالَ أَلَيْسَ قَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏
    "‏ إِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ آيَةً فَاسْجُدُوا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَأَىُّ آيَةٍ أَعْظَمُ مِنْ ذَهَابِ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ ‏.‏
    Narrated 'Ikrimah: "After Salat As-Subh, it was said to Ibn 'Abbas that so-and-so – one of the wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) – has died, so he prostrated. So it was said to him: 'Do you prostrate at this hour?' So he said: 'Has not the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'If you see a sign then prostrate?' Then which sign is grater than the passing of (one of) the wives of the Prophet (ﷺ)?'"

    أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ، ح وَأَنْبَأَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَكَمَ بْنَ أَبَانَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عِكْرِمَةَ، قَالَ أَتَى رَجُلٌ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ ظَاهَرَ مِنِ امْرَأَتِهِ ثُمَّ غَشِيَهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَفْعَلَ مَا عَلَيْهِ ‏.‏ قَالَ ‏"‏ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ رَأَيْتُ بَيَاضَ سَاقَيْهَا فِي الْقَمَرِ ‏.‏ قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ فَاعْتَزِلْ حَتَّى تَقْضِيَ مَا عَلَيْكَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَقَالَ إِسْحَاقُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ ‏"‏ فَاعْتَزِلْهَا حَتَّى تَقْضِيَ مَا عَلَيْكَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَاللَّفْظُ لِمُحَمَّدٍ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُرْسَلُ أَوْلَى بِالصَّوَابِ مِنَ الْمُسْنَدِ وَاللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى أَعْلَمُ ‏.‏
    'Ikrimah said: "A man came to the Prophet of Allah and said: 'O Prophet of Allah,' and that he had declared Zihar to his wife, then he had intercourse with her before he did what he had to do. He said: 'What made you do that?' He said: 'O Prophet of Allah! I saw the whiteness of her calves in the moonlight.' The Prophet said: 'Keep away until you have done what you have to do.' (One of the narrators) Ishaq said in his Hadith: "Keep away from her until you have done what you have to do." The wording is that of Muhammad.

    حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، وَسَأَلَهُ، رَجُلٌ عَنْ هَذِهِ الآيَةِ، ‏(‏ يا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِكُمْ وَأَوْلاَدِكُمْ عَدُوًّا لَكُمْ فَاحْذَرُوهُمْ ‏)‏ قَالَ هَؤُلاَءِ رِجَالٌ أَسْلَمُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ وَأَرَادُوا أَنْ يَأْتُوا النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَأَبَى أَزْوَاجُهُمْ وَأَوْلاَدُهُمْ أَنْ يَدَعُوهُمْ أَنْ يَأْتُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَلَمَّا أَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم رَأَوُا النَّاسَ قَدْ فَقِهُوا فِي الدِّينِ هَمُّوا أَنْ يُعَاقِبُوهُمْ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَل َّ‏:‏ ‏(‏ يا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِكُمْ وَأَوْلاَدِكُمْ عَدُوًّا لَكُمْ فَاحْذَرُوهُمْ ‏)‏ الآيَةَ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏
    Ikrimah narrated that : Ibn Abbas was asked by a man about this Ayah: O you who believe! Verity, among your wives and your children there are enemies for you; therefore beware of them! He said: “These are men who submitted (to Islam) in Makkah, and they wanted to come to the Prophet but their wives and children refused to allow them to come to the Messenger of Allah. So when they came to the Messenger of Allah, they saw that the people had gained such understanding in the religion that they wanted to punish them (their families). So Allah revealed the Ayah: O you who believe! Verily, among your wives and your children there are enemies for you; therefore beware of them!”

    حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، وَابْنُ أَبِي رِزْمَةَ، وَأَبُو نُعَيْمٍ عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏(‏ ما كَذَبَ الْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَى ‏)‏ قَالَ رَآهُ بِقَلْبِهِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ ‏.‏
    Narrated 'Ikrimah: that Ibn 'Abbas said (regarding the Ayah): The heart lied not in what he (ﷺ) saw (53:11). He said: "He saw Him with his heart."

    حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ نَبْهَانَ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ الْبَصْرِيُّ الثَّقَفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ أَبُو غَسَّانَ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَبَانَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ رَأَى مُحَمَّدٌ رَبَّهُ ‏.‏ قُلْتُ أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ يَقُولُ ‏:‏ ‏(‏ لا تُدْرِكُهُ الأَبْصَارُ وَهُوَ يُدْرِكُ الأَبْصَارَ ‏)‏ قَالَ وَيْحَكَ ذَاكَ إِذَا تَجَلَّى بِنُورِهِ الَّذِي هُوَ نُورُهُ وَقَدْ رَأَى مُحَمَّدٌ رَبَّهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ ‏.‏
    Narrated 'Ikrimah: that Ibn 'Abbas said: "Muhammad saw his Lord." I said: "Did Allah not say: No vision can grasp Him, but He grasps all vision (6:103). He said: "Woe unto you! That is when He manifests His Light. But Muhammad saw his Lord two times."
